This hotel has a great location. In the morning you, just have a 3 minutes walk to Squaw Village and the ticket booth to get your lift tickets. We arrived at night and it was VERY hard to find. There were no signs out on the road and even the sign
on the hotel door is very tiny. We ended up going into another Squaw Lodge and asking for directions. Turns out we had driven right by and hadn't even noticed it. Also, the front desk closes at 7pm so if you arrive after that you have to call a number and they give you the code to a lockbox to get your hotel key. Both of our cell phones were about to run out of batteries, but thankfully we were able to call and get in.
The room was comfortable. With a queen bed in the bedroom and a pull-out sofa bed. The garage parking with an elevator up to the room would be helpful if the weather was bad.
The Red Wolf is a fabulous spot right at the base of Squaw Valley. The rooms are small, but very comfortable and the view of the ski resort can't be beat. The kitchens are well stocked and the outdoor decks are a great place to unwind after a full
day skiing. Hot tub and club house are nice bonuses and then it is just a 2-minute walk to the Squaw Valley village to access lots of dining options.
From the moment we checked in the staff was very helpful in planning our itinerary for a wonderful weekend at Squaw Valley. Nice accomidations, at the base of Red Dog. Must be fantastic during the winter, ski in and ski out. Bottom line, I would
recommend this hotel to my friends and wouldnt hesitate staying there again.
Booking agent didn't get my info to the hotel before the staff left for the day (not 24 hour) so it was a bit tricky getting my room at midnight but great value and location. Not 5 star but more a classic chalet feel.
Great location in Squaw Valley. Went up for the Wanderlust Festival and enjoyed the quick access to the venues while still being in a quiet area. The Murphy bed was a bit too soft for me, but the room itself was spacious and comfortable. No
pool and limited hours for the front desk, but I guess every hotel has its pros and cons. Red Wolf does have free bike rental, as well as other 'freebies'.
