Faded glory

Booked 1 bedrrom suite w/kingsize bed. Got room with 2 beds. Room generally not clean and modern. Location nice, grounds well kept, view to ocean great. Wi-fi didn't work, poor lighting in room - like a dungeon, half of electrical plugs did not have power, sliding door to patio had broken lock. Was awoke at 8 am by cleaning staff on Satruday. Facility was nice once but not now. Staff at front desk lacked maturity and basic knowledge of handling guests.

The hotel is in a very nice location

The staff was very friendly and capable. The current description of the hotel amenities includes continental breakfast. This is no longer offered and was discontinued since August 2011. The room was not very clean but was acceptable since we stayed there one night only.

Bad,Bad and Disapointed!!!

[...] got a room with 2 queens, had no choise, the room was out of a motel6 from the 1960,s, paint was comming off the bathroom door, beds were like trampolines, if you did not lay in the middle you fell out!! Out $210.00 ouch! said these things to the desk clerk and they just said that was the way things were. No concern. when we were checking in the man in front of was complaining that his room smelled like a sewer, they told him to open the windows, thought he was going to go crazy on them till they gave him another room, which they did not want to do. I will never recomend this place to anyone that i like.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

20 dollars per hour for late checking out fee, seemed a little much, however our flight was later in the afternoon so it was a help. You would need a car, too far to walk to the beach, and be aware that camp pendleton can be a little noisy. But I would have no qualms in reccommending it.

Do NOT Recommend!

This was a TERRIBLE experience. We got the "special" rate from [...] and,in return, were given rooms that were last updated in what appeared to be 1970. The carpets were stained, the windows did not lock, the appliances looked like they were found in a garage sale, the furniture was so worn and dirty that we slept in our clothes. We could not believe they actually sell these rooms! The check in entry way had spiderwebs on the table lights so you can imagine the lack of cleanliness. We found out later that that there are more updated rooms, but we were told we could not get these because we had the special rate. This happened to other guests who we spoke with. One couple who was celebrating their anniversary said their room was so disgusting they could not sleep. Also very interesting was they told us they had no more rooms avaialable when we complained, but then they suddenly found an updated room when one of the rooms had a major problem. I cannot express enough how bad this experience was and I would be very wary of staying there. There is no refund so if it happens to you, you are stuck in a VERY BAD experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Not recommeded!

Stayed 2 nights. When I got back the second day, my coffee pot had not been cleaned and the coffee cup I had used was left next to the bathroom sink with water in it. Bed was really uncomfortable. Instead of a fitted sheet, there was a flat sheet that wouldn't stay tucked in. Also, the bed had a plastic sheet between the bottom sheet and mattress. While I understand this is to make it more sanitary, the plastic sheet kept crumpling up under me because the flat sheet did not hold it into place. It was a very annoying sleep experience. Even though the room was darling and the view was fantastic, I will not go back, nor will I recommend it to anybody

Expected Better

Upon arriving, I was happy to see so many sailboats docked, and the outside of the hotel looked appealing. While checking in, I found out that there was a $50 deposit I had to pay, which I was unhappy about due to the fact that I was not notified about this fee [...] by the hotel when I called before I started my long drive from Arizona to their location in California. I had all of my money budgeted for everything that I would need it for and did not have an extra $50 to spend, but the Front Desk Attendant assured me that it would be put right back into my bank account once I checked in. Once my son and I got to our room, I was unhappy with the slight odor in the room, but figured that it was because of all the wet weather they probably get there being right at the ocean. I noticed that there was stains on the carpet, the screen door to the patio sliding door was off-track, and you could tell that someone did a bad job on painting the room/bathroom. I did like that they wash the bed covers as well as the sheets after every use, which was a great thing to hear due to I usually have to avoid using them in other hotels. The housekeeper, the only one that I came into contact with, was very nice. I was happy that I didn't have to go far to get to the places I wanted to take my son to that weekend...however we did not have access to walk down the docks to get a closer view of the sailboats. My son and I did not like that whenever we had to leave our room that evening just to go to the vending machine or the car, we had to bundle up due to the hotel hallways were not enclosed they were open to the weather and cold. The next morning, I thought that I wouldn't have to take my son anywhere for breakfast since the hotel offered a complimentary one...but I was incredibly unhappy with their layout - it consisted of coffee, orange juice, hard-boiled eggs, and danishes that didn't look appealing. Needless to say, we didn't eat anything. When we were checking out, I was told by the lady who was the Front Desk Attendant at that time, that my deposit may take a couple days to get back into my bank account...when I expressed my unhappiness about this and my worry that I would have enough money for gas to get back home (7hour drive back to where I live in AZ), she had a sassy response that consisted of 'all hotels have a deposit' and that I should have known that and had made it part of my budget. I have not used a hotel in quite some time, and was not notified by [...] the hotel [...] about this fee, so of course I could not have known to put aside another $50.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

A very short drive or a short-to-long walk away from the hotel, you will find dining to your preference. Whether you choose to walk or drive, you will have a view of sailboats along the way. If you drive a little further, you will come to shopping and the beach.

Nice location, a bit noisy

Visiting San Diego and Wild Animal Park. Reasonabla distance to LAX airport where we have arrived late night after long-haul flight and to San Diego.
