Better than any other hotel in Oakland

I had business in Oakland and usually stay in a nice hotel downtown. However this trip that hotel was full so I decided to try the Best Western even though it was a farther from the State building than the place I normally stay. The extra 15 minute drive was WELL worth it! The BW is in a nice area with rooms facing the bay. It was more like a refuge than a place to plop down after work. It had ample FREE parking and was quiet. Rooms were clean, large and had good work space. There was fresh coffee all the time and there was a good breakfast with lots of variety.

If you are trying to get downtown from the hotel do NOT rely on google maps just drive straight down Embarcaderro, it turns into Broadway which takes you to the heart of owntown

Great place to stay in Oakland

Everything was perfect; was upgraded to a king bed. Breakfast was a very good variety, and lots of coffee choices. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Don't walk west from the hotel on the trail: it ends into warehouse areas that don't allow through-access.

Great waterfront location

We were staying in Oakland for our daughter's wedding. We've stayed in this hotel before, so we knew we'd have a positive experience again. This time I booked rooms on the waterside which I would recommend. Everyone enjoyed sitting on the balconies watching the sailboats, rowing teams, and seagulls. You can also walk or jog along the water. Several guests had dogs. It's really nice to have a natural setting to take the animals and not just a parking lot. It's also the small things I enjoy when I travel. I've stayed at more expensive hotels that don't include amenities like a tea/coffee bar, free Wi-fi, and the complementary breakfast buffet. If you are visiting the area, I'd definitely recommend the Best Western Bayside.

Family stay in San Francisco

Lovely rooms at this hotel. Had an issue at check in as paid extra for water view and had a view of the freeway but this was fixed after speaking to the manager. Breakfast was great. Location was fine. Free shuttle was extra bonus and drivers were extremely friendly. Quinns lighthouse was within walking distance and meals were great. Didn't sample pool as weather not warm enough. Booking was made via a third party cashback site but this website have failed to uphold payment which was dissapointing.

We will definitely stay here again for our next trip to SF!

The Best Western PLUS Bayside Hotel is quite possibly one of the most friendly hotels my wife and I have ever stayed in. The staff is super friendly and ready to answer all of your questions. Charles, who was on the night staff when we were checking in, gave us excellent information on what we should do during our limited stay in SF/Oakland. Hotel Shuttle is courteous and professional. We took the shuttle to Jack London Square where we were able to ride the ferry to Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel is located in a secluded location off the highway, which does give it a feeling of good safety. The rooms here are huge. We booked one of the rooms with a king size bed and whirlpool and this room is easily one of the biggest hotel rooms we've ever stayed in. I guess we're just used to cramp hotels trying to squeeze their customers into tiny closet spaces, but this place really lets you spread out. The room was clean and the housekeeping staff were super nice. Breakfast here is FREE and delicious! Amongst the selection is the obligatory waffle machine, cereals, and pastries. In addition, there were hot omelettes, egg and sausage sandwiches, yogurt, fruits, milk, and bottled juices. Bottled juices included V8, grapefruit, orange, and apple. The coffee, tea, and espresso bar is also in the lobby and is available 24/7. The only downside is that the pool is in the adjacent hotel which I guess is co-owned by Best Western. Other than that, this hotel is pretty much the best hotel we've ever stayed in and we would definitely return here when we come back to San Francisco!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Check out Fisherman's Wharf for all of the typical touristy attractions. My wife and I did the 7D shooter, which was essentially a combination of an enhanced movie theater with laser guns and moving seats. The zombie movie is fun and a bit terrifying. If you're into yarn, there's a quaint little yarn shop called "A Verb for Keeping Warm" about a 10 minute drive north of the hotel. Very friendly people who dye their own yarn. The adjacent restaurant, called "Actual Cafe" has some of the most amazing foods. I had their burger of the week, "Verde Burger", which blew my mind. Their garlic and parma fries are also to die for.

Standard comfort, bit of a hike

This Best Western is just fine. Its location at the Oakland Marina is complicated: if you have a room overlooking the water, you're good. The noise of the adjacent high way is magically buffered by the building and the views are great, but the front side is noisy. Also, either you need a car to get around, or you're dependent on a shuttle to get you to the Bart Station (i.e. no spur-of-the moment excursions). The area is not really suitable for walking, as it's industrial, deserted, and feels rather unsafe (I wouldn't walk alone there as a female; with a partner, I felt safe during the day). Also, the distance to the Bart station is not negligible, and there is no alternative to the hotel shuttle. Breakfast is just mediocre, staff is friendly. If you're flexible in terms of transportation, don't mind that you can't walk anywhere, you're ok. But there is no ambience around this building.

Good play to stay if heading to a game

Our stop in Oakland was short, just to see a baseball game. Given the hotel options in Oakland, the Best Western was an easy choice. We were pleased with our selection. Five minutes to the stadium. Free parking. Basic business hotel. Coffee and water available 24/7. Clean, large rooms. Computer/printer access. Cooperative front desk.. Safe.

The hotel and staff were great. The breakfast was very good and Maria the hostess was on top of everything making sure nothing ran out. Hotel has a pleasant view over the water to Alameda. the rooms were good size and we had absolutely no noise. My wife and I would definitely stay here again.
