Good value for Newport Beach

The location is great - close to the beach and shopping. The setting is also very comfortable - feels like a resort. However, the buildings are old and getting worn.

A few days away

I come here once or twice a year and I am never disappointed. The grounds are lovely. The hotel is quiet. And for the price, it works just perfect for a break from every day life.

An O.K. trip

The service was great at the bar. The front desk staff was good, professional, and helpful but not anything extraordinary or unexpected. The room was o.k. but the bathroom tile had either spots or stains that were not addressed. The television/cable system was not user friendly and made changing channels a challenge.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Fashion Island is a short drive from the hotel although the hotel provides a shuttle service to and from there. The shopping is fabulous and makes the trip to Newport Beach worth it.

Unhappy Dissappointed

VERY dissappointed

Bathrooms were totally UNacceptable. NO countertop, 2ft mirror over sink, no drawers, 2 wash clothers for 2 people.OLD rough tiny bath towels. Could NOT get breakfast until 6AM even with preorder. WALKED a block to room and then UPSTAIRS without an elevator. Overpriced for what we have come to expect from Hyatt.

try the Yard House at the Fashion mall just up the street from the Hyatt. I suggest a taxi since it's a long walk up hill. There were many excellent restruants in the Fashion Mall.

Horrible Hyatt

Horrible

Absolutely awful. The hotel was under construction but this was not listed upon the booking. A jackhammer was going off at 9am that morning. They slid a note under our door 5 minutes after we got there to let us know about the jackhammering instead of letting us know when we checked in. They also charge $19 a day to park in their parking lot which they also did not tell us until we checked out and absolutely refuse to waive the charges. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice but construction going on

The facilities are nice and the rooms are comfortable. They do charge $10.95 per day for wireless access (should be free considering the cost per night). The lobby was closed for remodeling and some of the patios were being redone which made navigating to conference rooms difficult.

Great stay

The room had a good view and plenty of space. The lobby was being renovated, but hotel staff went out of their way to make sure that guests were not inconvenienced by this. Great service!

SUP Hyatt

Everything was great. Nice rooms and heated pools, but the superior personell really make this Hyatt stand out in Newport Beach. Remodeling during Xmas week and rainstorm was inconvenient, but bearable.
