I chose this hotel because of the good reviews and my fiancee and I were VERY pleased with our stay. The attention to detail and all the little extras like the beach gear, thank you card, awesome cookies in the lobby, movie selection, and more...
I would totally stay there again based on how nice our stay there was and the great location. I also just got a thank you card from the hotel in the mail! That was the icing on the cake! I can't wait to stay there again. You can quickly tell that they are trying to stand out and give you an awesome value.
Nice, clean older hotel on Balboa Peninsula. Rooms were fairly updated and descent sized. Great location if you want to be near the beach with lots of places for eating, drinking and shopping within walking distance. The staff friendliness,
helpfulness and courtesy was outstanding!
Took my husband here for a birthday getaway weekend. Chose this hotel based on the other very high reviews, but doubted my choice all up until the moment we walked in the front door. The staff is super-friendly, the breakfast and daily fresh baked
cookies are a real treat, the roof-top deck had nice views to enjoy your breakfast and the room was clean and updated (and didn't look at all like the pics on the website, which looked a bit drab and outdated. They told me new pics are coming soon). There are no waterfront hotels in Newport Beach and this is as good a location as you could ask for, walkable to the pier, beach, and restaurants. The free beach equipment and dvds are also a nice touch that we took advantage of. We will be back -- what a great value and extremely pleasant stay!
This place isn't extremely fancy or high end but its super cute. It's literally a 2 min walk to the beach (right across the street). They offer free beach towels and boogie boards, umbrellas and chairs for your use, even on the day that you check
out. Free parking. Very personable and open kitchen. They have free video rentals and have a very wide selection. They also have a rooftop deck to sit and chill with a view of the harbor and ocean. Downfall was that our tv wasn't hooking up to the DVD player so we couldn't watch our movie. Overall a great place close to everything.
The staff was cheerful, friendly and very helpful. My boyfriend and I wanted a quick & easy getaway for the weekend, and this place was highly recommended. I can see why now - the rooms were clean, bright and comfortable. The rooftop deck was
great - we watched sunset from the top with a bottle of wine, and enjoyed our complimentary breakfast up there one morning too. The location is great - a block from the ocean, 2 from the Newport Pier and easy access to the Highway. next time I'm in Newport, I'll be back!
Wow! This is a great hotel. A roof-top deck, with views of both the ocean and the back bay. A quick walk to the beach boardwalk. Clean, comfortable rooms. Yummy cookies and breakfast. I will most defintely stay again!
We loved staying at the Bay Shores Peninsula Hotel! It felt like we were staying in a bed and breakfast, it felt like staying in someone's home, which we really liked. There isn't a whole lot of parking, but they will feed the meter in the city
lot across the street, which is really nice. There's fresh cookies every day at 3, and they stash the leftovers in a cookie jar in the kitchen area. Breakfast isn't much to write home about, but it's nice that it's there! We had a turn down service every night with chocolate on our pillow. They gave us new toiletries everyday. The room was clean, but the baseboards could use a deep clean. Overall we loved our stay and will definitely stay there the next time we travel to California!

We enjoyed breakfast at My Galley, just a little ways down from the Bay Shores. Awesome breakfast burritos, coffee and iced tea!
Stayed for several weekdays in order to visit relatives in the area. Just a few blocks away from the Newport Pier. Though it is on the busy Balboa Blvd, the windows (which opened!) effectively blocked the noise of traffic. The parking was a bit
tight, but the staff will feed parking meters for you in the lot across the street if you ask them to. The room was rather small, but comfortable. The breakfast was average (as in many hotels), but they offered 24-hour access to a few food items (bagels and cookies), which was nice. I enjoyed taking my breakfast and newspaper up to the rooftop, where there are tables and chairs, and enjoying the view of the ocean and harbor while I ate. I would recommend it and would stay again.
