Room features such as whirlpool bathtubs and free Wi-Fi are surpassed only by property amenities such as a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, complimentary business and fitness centers and a free hot breakfast buffet offered seven days a week. Proximity to Silicon Valley businesses, theme parks and universities only add to the convenience factor.

  • Complimentary hot breakfast buffet
  • Heated outdoor swimming pool and hot tub
Rooms:

Renovated in 2006, the guest rooms here are outfitted with contemporary-style furnishings, neutral-colored bedding and new carpeting. Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available in each room, and weekday newspaper delivery is also complimentary.

Features:

Guests wake up daily to a complimentary buffet with hot breakfast dishes, coffee and juice. The on-site business center lets corporate travelers put the finishing touches on presentations, send e-mails or fax contracts from the comfort of the hotel. A nicely landscaped courtyard features a heated swimming pool and hot tub, while the fitness room offers cardio equipment. Don't Even Think of staying here!

Worst experience of our lives. Traveled with family - 2 kids, wife and I. Right from the get go we had a bad feeling of how this would go. The front desk lady suggested a bigger room since we had lot of luggage. Not sure if this was the largest room they had, but it was tiny, compared to our experiences at a Marriott or Country Inn. The light in the bathroom went out at night. The manager came to replace it with a bulb that wouldn't fit. He didn't even have a ladder to get up. The next day our room keys stopped working - after re-keying 3 times, they had to replace the battery on the door opener. The room carpet was dirty with hair everywhere and dust in the corners. We were forced to check out early. Not recommended for someone used to a regular Marriott, Hilton, Country Inn etc. especially for longer stays with family.

Won't stay there again

I'll start with the good because it is short: I like the new three sheet setup on the bed where there is a bottom sheet, a top sheet, then a warm blanket and then another sheet so you are never in contact with bedding that is not washed after every guest. The pool area looked nice and there was a small fitness room with 2 treadmills and an eliptical machine. Not as nice as I expected, but it was something. Now the bad: The hall was stinky, the front hallway was having carpet replaced so maybe when they make it through the whole hotel it will help. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling. It wasn't a problem for me since I am only 5'4 but if I'd been a couple inches taller the shower head would have been too low. It was a nice shower head with various massage settings, but there wasn't enough water pressure to make any of them work. The breakfast consisted of warmed frozen items that were somewhat stale. I know Holiday Inn is not a luxury brand, but I expected more and given the other options in the same price range in the area I won't be staying there again.

functional chain hotel experience

excellent location near shops & dining on Camino Real -- despite misleading address (street numbers are out of sequence); reliable holiday inn express business amenities - wifi & b'fast; fitness room is a joke

Clean rooms

Check in was smooth and friendly. Breakfast was ok....but it was free with the room and offered a couple of hot items. Weird layout to hotel...had to walk a long way to get to the elevator from the lobby. All in all, I was comfortable.

decent hotel for a short business trip

Not as clean as I expected. There was hair in the bathroom. Complimentary breakfast is decent. The pool was closed with no reason. Far too expensive for the value provided.

hotel was not particularly clean. Breakfast was dreadful. Price was right. It was the only hotel available in the area during a Stanford football game.

Not so great

Its too costly, for a hotel without a flat screen or elevator. Its not worth the price. Its good for just temporary stay.

Close to Stanford

We were their for a doctors appointment at Stanford Hospital. The only thing that made it uncomfortable for us was the homeless people walking around the building. We parked in back and we were concerned about our car being safe.

No Surprises

Wife was disappointed when she saw it was an old hotel rebranded to a Holiday Inn Express, but it was not as bad as other examples we have found. Rooms were furnished and equipped like any typical Holiday Inn and as such were comfortable if not exceptional. Breakfast was a downer because the hostess couldn't keep up with the slobs and their kids messing everything up! And a communal milk jug, simply gross. Location was convenient but next time we'll choose a place with a court yard across the street.

Nightlife tip: Long walk from hotel

Take a jacket, because although the days are bee-uu-ti-full the nights do get chilly.
