Nice room at a good location

My family and I stayed here one night for a doctor's appointment at Stanford. The location was convenient and the hot breakfast was decent. My only criticism was they put us in the first room off the lobby and it was rather noise and the television was dated and had lousy reception.

Fantastic staff, comfortable rooms.

Staff was fantastic. Jeannie was very accommodating and gave a discounted rate for another, unexpected night's stay. Rooms were large and beds were comfortable. Internet could have been faster. Great value for the price.

good value for the price

Very clean, very quiet. The room was very good for the price. had a fridge, microwave, ironing board, and big bed. Location is great, along El Camino Real. Lots of eateries around. However, don't expect fancy amenities. Didn't partake in the breakfast. Internet was free (big plus!). Only negative: room wasn't made up either day I stayed because housekeeping comes by early - around 9am. They didn't come back to check on the room later, even though the "maid" sign was changed around 10.

Comfortable Stay

Staff was very courteous and helpful. My room was fairly spacious, clean and comfortable. I had a very quiet room - barely heard a sole even though they said the hotel was full. I think it was geared for business primarily. Good central location to Stanford University, various garden attractions and estates. The city of San Francisco is very accessible as well as San Jose (where I toured the very unique and awesome Sarah Winchester House). Beaches and forests all within day trip distance. Great restaurants all around.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Filoli Estate and Gardens is a 25,000 sq ft mansion with gardens - very gorgeous home with huge gardens! (In Woodside). The Sarah Winchester Mystery House was great fun. The tour guide said we had walked 1 mile while touring the house! This is a one of a kind house with all it's bizarre architecture and stories. I found it well worth the $40.00 tour fee. (Located in San Jose).

Another enjoyable stay.

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel while visiting our daughter in Palo Alto. I was a little concerned after they changed from a Holiday Inn Express to private ownership. But, there was nothing to be concerned about. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Palo Alto, I'd strongly recommend this one. The staff was very nice. There were a couple of small problems which were taken care of quickly. It is very clean, quiet and relaxing. Also, unlike many other hotels in the area, it is enclosed. By that I mean your room door does not open to the outside but to an inside hallway. I much prefer that set up. Thanks again for a pleasant stay.

Good all-around business location

If you do business with a lot of Silicon Valley companies, this is a good basic hotel with a prime location. There are not many in-house dining options, but lots of very good restaurants nearby. Access to main highways is also good, and the hotel is clean and well-managed.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

If you like good food at reasonable prices, this is a very good location. My favorite reataurants in the area are The Cantankerous Fish (seafood), Fu Lam Mum (Chinese) and Cascal (tapas). They're all on Castro Street in Mountain View, a 5-minute drive from this hotel.

No Surprises

Wife was disappointed when she saw it was an old hotel rebranded to a Holiday Inn Express, but it was not as bad as other examples we have found. Rooms were furnished and equipped like any typical Holiday Inn and as such were comfortable if not exceptional. Breakfast was a downer because the hostess couldn't keep up with the slobs and their kids messing everything up! And a communal milk jug, simply gross. Location was convenient but next time we'll choose a place with a court yard across the street.

Nightlife tip: Long walk from hotel

Take a jacket, because although the days are bee-uu-ti-full the nights do get chilly.
