Not bad. But far from really good.

Paying more doesn't necessarily mean to get more. The view and location is nothing compared to other beach hotels (such as seacrest).

Not bad. But far from really good.

We made a westcoast road trip driving from San Francisco south. Usually we only stay in 4 to 5 star hotels. But the pictures and location of monterey plaza convinced us. In Monterey we spent our 4th night and had two double rooms. The location and the view of the hotel rooms are all right. You are directly above a stone formation and the waves splash really hard against the hotel walls. This can be very noisy at night - but certainly better than any street noises. You can see the fisherman's wharf from the ocean view rooms and binoculars can be found in any room. But the balcony is so tiny, you basically have to sit inside and open the windows to have a comfortable view. The food in the restaurant is awful. A very bad combination of ingredients, herbs and flavors. Not recommendable at all. For breakfast we grabbed a panini and croissants, coffee etc.from the cafe la strada. We want es to enjoy their terrace and have a calm breakfast at the ocean (with seagulls accompanying us :) but: the cleaning personnel preferred to clean the outdoor area with a noise making high pressure water cleaner starting at 8.30 a.m. until 9.45 a.m. (at least that's when we left). So no quiet and nice breakfast at all. To summarize it up, the hotel is not worth the money and is not a 4 star hotel. So many little things are missing. And there is no pool and the hotel is facing north and is really in the shades - after 5 p.m.there was no sun at all. The next night we spent it in Pismo Beach, at a perfect tiny beach hotel (called seacrest). The front desk was really friendly and nice. The location outstanding Directly on the beach with big swimming and jacuzzi areas, access to the huge beach, with big balconies facing towards the ocean. Next night continued to Omni in L.A.

Very lovely property walking distance from the Aquarium. Beautiful views of the bay and of cannery row from our room. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Would stay here again and recommend to friends and family. Restaurant on property served delicious breakfast and decent lunch. Free cocktail hour during week. Overall wonderful stay.

Great family getaway

Great hotel! Room with beatiful views overlooking bay (2213). Free bikes to ride scenic trail. Great restaurant at hotel (I recommend the stuffed lobster and filet for two), $85, but well worth it. A little noisy in the morning outside room setting up for a conference breakfest (6am). Overall, I would recommend this hotel and stay there again.

The perfect Monterey Get-away

We love this hotel for it's great staff, super location and very nice rooms. Located on Cannery Row within walking distance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and nearby shopping, the hotel provides fabulous access to the bay with alfresco dining options for morning coffee or afternoon tea. An incredible location for weddings and other celebrations. It's always like coming home when we visit here.

Great hotel - shame about resort fee

We had a wonderful stay with our 2 kids, aged 5 and 8. They were warmly welcomed by the staff, provided a gift bag and made to feel very much at home in this lovely hotel. The location was great for visiting the aquarium and the views from the patio area were divine. My only complaint is the Resort Fee at $27. This is not a resort but chooses to charge guests for services. Sure we used the parking, but we did not use the phone and were not even allowed to visit the spa with kids, so it seemed a bit unfair to me.

Great views

Accommodations were good, and front desk staff extremely helpful. Avoid the restaurant. Food is mediocre and hostess acts like she is doing you a favor to let you in a nearly empty restaurant. .

One night family getaway on the Bay

Overall it is hard to complain. The sound of the ocean and the comfort of the room and the great staff. In my case, a little unique, I had a couple kids and grandkids and much to our dismay there was no pool nor mention that the hot tubs were off limit to under 18. Just not a family place. Very excellent for a romantic getaway, but again, the spa tubs and out door fireplace closes at 9PM. That's too early for me.

Nice hotel!

Stayed overnight in Monterey. Great location on cannery row and valet parking is included in the $27 fee. Rooms were very clean and attractive. The only downside to the style was that the shower was about flat with the floor so it was a struggle to keep our toddler out, lol. Loved the soap it smelled great bStaff was very friendly and attentive, even gave us bottled water for the road when we left! Would stay here again.
