A gem on the golf course
This place really brings their A game. Housekeeping staff is quick, rooms are spacious, amenities are great. We were there during the Giants World Series run and the sports bar was jammed. That bar is wonderful with or without people jamming in. Starbucks in the lobby, on site spa with all the things that go with it. Freeway close and should you be a golfer, the 7th green was outside our room.

Nice
The room ventilation/HVAC is so obviously inadequate that each room has a freestanding heat/AC plug in tower.

Almost four star
Could have been four star but had hot weather and no air conditioning. Also, the coffee pot hadn't been cleaned but all else was tidy in the room. It was great having a frig in the room. In the building with my room, the hall carpets needed serious cleaning or replacing. The location is lovely especially if you like golf. The food was good but a bit ove priced.

aging retro hotel
Three negatives. First there are no air conditioners. A note in room says to use the ceiling fan and open window to cool room from cool Monterey air. Would be fine but traffic was noisy. Second, the bathroom doors are sliding doors, that leaves a 3/4 inch gap all way around when closed, creating a not so private atmosphere. Third, the carpet and counters are showing age. However, the staff are great! The restaurants are very upscale, and the food is excellent, it is away from the main hotel chains. The beds and bedding is excellent. The bathroom itself is updated and modern. Very clean. They helped provide discounted tickets to the aquarium. There was a coffee maker and refrigerator with bottles of water provided daily, and a safe. Grounds are beautiful. Given all this, I would return because I know what to expect, and the service outweighs the negatives.

3-Star at Best
Very average, definitely not a 4 star hotel. Room recently renovated, but still nothing special. The whole place felt dated. Staff was friendly enough, but did not follow through on what they promised. No call when room was ready for check-in, no paper in the morning, no bill under the door, etc. Also, watch out for those extra charges they never tell you about - $22 "activities fee" was a surprise. Good location, but don't expect more than an average (3-star) experience.

Fantastic location
just off the highway, close to all tourist locations and restaurants we had planned to visit. The only nonsatisfactory point goes to the pool which was too small for such a big resort, therefor super crowded. Overall satisfied with the room, staff and value.

Monterey
Staff was always ready to serve your every need at any moment. The food at Tusca Ristorante was amazingly prepared and served. Our room was good, clean, and comfortable; a bit pricey. I did not like the "resort fee" of 22 bucks per day. Other than that it was a great stay.
