2-day vacation in Monterey
Overall, the hotel is good, nice personnel. But there is no gym. I mean a real gym; just one room with coupe treadmills. Not far away from main street.

Rustic charm and good location
The hotel is in a good location as far as access to downtown Monterey and the fairgrounds. We were attending the Monterey Jazz Festival so we wanted a hotel that could easily access both these venues. The hotel Casa Munras is an older property that has been around for many years and has been updated by the Starwood hoteliers. It has its own rustic charm with a hilly, rambling layout and flowering vines. They have done a good job with the hotel lobby, restaurant and patio area with fire pit. We did not check out the pool (too cold at 82 degrees) or the spa. The rooms are small by today's standards, but the beds were very comfortable with nice linens and everything was very clean. The bathrooms have been somewhat updated, but for some reason, they decided to keep the original soft green, tile shower stalls...I couldn't decide whether I thought it was fun or too out-of-date. The sink faucet was old and so was the floor tile. My biggest complaint is that there is no air-conditioning or a ceiling fan. It got very stuffy in the room (we were on the second floor). We opened the windows, but they face out onto the veranda so we still needed to keep the blinds closed (this is the case with most of the rooms). I ended up asking for a room fan, which helped a lot. The rooms were a bit pricey at $199/night for a standard, but this could have been due to the Jazz Festival. Good location, rustic charm, but small rooms and no AC should be more like $120/night. I would go back again and recommend it to friends and family if the price was a bit lower.

Great location
Great location, walking distance to fisherman's wharf. Have bike rentals right here which is great. Pool is heated and really nice. Rooms are small and aren't like the W or anything but didn't spend much time in there except to sleep.

Eating anywhere on Cannery Row is a major disappointment. Service is awful and food is mediocre. Worth driving to Pacific Grove instead.

Loud and not worth the money
Our room was immediately in front of the parking. Walls were so thin we could hear footsteps in the stairwells and hairdryers from the neighbors. The only reason we didn't leave was that we had a dog friendly room and nothing in town was available otherwise. Would not recommend to anyone wishing to have a nice getaway.
