Visiting at a sad time in our life.

The staff was very accommodating, and gave us a room on the pool deck with a sliding door. They did this because I am a smoker and the rooms are not smoking, made it very convenient for us. My only complaint was that there was no microwave in the room.

Not worth it

A group of friends and myself were in town for Xfest, we choose the double tree because of the convenience even though it was double the price of all the other small hotels in the area. from the moment we got there we all felt uncomfortable, they had security guards everywhere patrolling the hallways which made us feel like we were prison. they were harassing any guest that made a peep. i got a warning that i was making to much noise because i had the volume of my notebook on to loud. although i lowered it to half the volume, 20 mins later i was greeted by more than 6 police officers that tried to kick us out for having a party even though there were only 4 of us in the room and we all had rented room separate at the hotel. in the end i did not get kicked out but we had a horrible experiences there. i would never stay at that hotel again!

Nice location. Motel old.

Very warm greeting. The cookies hit the spot after a long drive. The hotel itself was old and the rm was run down. No flat screen T.V. and the T.V. in rm was small. The pool was small and lots of kids in pool. The location was fantansic. I thought it was over priced. You paid for the name and that was it. Disapointed about the room.

Doubletree Modesto a 6, from 1-10.

Went to this hotel due name and closest to visiting friends while traveling on vacation to Canada. Desk personnel seemed to require additional training in ensuring customer/client is aware of amenities hotel has to offer and locations (restaurants, elevators, any thing special). Have had better stays.

4:30 am Fire Alarm

At 4:30 am the fire alarm for the building went off and we were evacuated from the building by a loud speaker. I figured that after circling my way around the building back to the front of the hotel, we would find SOME kind of Double Tree employee who could direct us as to where to assemble. Instead we found ourselves wondering around amongst fire trucks and police cars. A police officer actually had to ask guests to leave the property for safety concerns. We were never formally told that we were allowed back into the hotel but after seeing the 4th fire truck leave the hotel parking lot, we assumed the building was safe to enter. I was shocked to see no Double Tree employees at the entrance or in the lobby. I was expecting reassurance that the building indeed was safe to enter ... and an apology for disturbance. Throughout this entire thing, we saw ZERO Double Tree employees and that is concerning. I understand that things happen and I am not upset over the alarm, I am upset over being out in the wind to fend for myself in a parking lot at 4:30 am.

Modesto Trip

The hotel was supposed to be the nicest in the area. Even though I was on the top floor (10th), I could hear train whistles ALL night long. It kept me up most of the night and I was pretty tired for my business interview the next morning.

Sleepless in Modesto

disappointed

We were staying there because my mother was having heart surgery. It was an extremely long and stress-fully exhausting day. We arrived at the hotel fairly late in the day to eat and sleep before we were to return to the hospital the next morning. When we walked in, we were really impressed! Everything is really quite lovely and we were looking forward to a wonderful relaxing evening. Not so much. The trains go by nearly every hour. The beds are said to be queen size and are incredibly small, forcing us to sleep separately. The television volume control was faulty and continuously rose by itself. (no, not only during commercials). The coffee maker only worked on one side, resulting in the hot coffee overflowing the first cup because it wouldn't transfer to the second one and creating a huge mess. For the amount of money we spent on this room we expected alot more. We would have settled for decent accommodations at a much more reasonable price. On a lighter note... our dinner was very good but our waiter was wonderful. [...] was the brightest light in the whole experience. Thanks [...]!

There is only one sports bar and brewery across the street. Otherwise be prepared to drive.
