The Wave Hotel Manhattan Beach

Pool and hot tub were wonderful, clean. Continental breakfast was simple and fresh every morning. The rooms were fine, the staff was excellent.

The rooms were just average. Swimming pool and sauna are a nice touch. Staff was very friendly.

Do not stay here! Mold in the bathroom (front desk staff tried to tell me it was mildew). I am a homeowner, so unfortunately I know what mold looks like. And there was a lot of it! That is a safety hazard. There was even mold in the refrigerator in the room, like it had never been cleaned. The "breakfast" was laughable at best. The milk tasted as if it had gone bad and the toasters only worked if you held the handle down for the entire time. This should not be a three-star hotel!

Creepy feeling!! Towels were clean and bathroom was clean but toilet was cracked and tub was chipped. We only slept there. Location for us was great as our son lived around corner.

Enjoyed the stay as I simply needed a place to rest and get ready and get out for the day while I was in LA etc. staff were friendly and helpful enough.

i was pleased with the treatment given to my husband and I. Everyone was very helpful. They were kind and friendly. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was perfect. The location was just right for us and easy to find. Many people have said that many hotels in LA smell moldy because they are near the water. Well this hotel did not smell and that is one thing that i truly appreciate.

The room was booked as part of a vacation package. With our flight not getting in until 1am, and having to get the rental car first, called a couple days before check in to verify everything was ok. 230am, night front desk employee was prompt and friendly. Opened door to the room and found it a mess, room cleaning start the room but never finished, sheets piled on the beds, wet towels on the bathroom floor, trash still in room. "I guess they forgot to finish" was the explanation and no alternative rooms with double beds available. WE had to suggest TO THE EMPLOYEE giving us a room with a single bed for the night until the room could be cleaned first thing in the morning. We were told our room would be the first on the schedule at 7am to be cleaned. We needed two roll away beds to accommodate the move to a room with one bed for the night, which took 1 hour to find because they had no idea were theirs were...had to take from a hotel across the street. Now its 4am and finally in bed. Next morning "no cleaning staff have come in yet". 10am until we were in our original room--which has stained carpets, remote control is dirty with no back so batteries keep falling out, ironing board stained too. Just happy will be spending more of my vacation site seeing and enjoy my first time in California then at this hotel.

A few details - the vanity overhead light was broken and missing a bulb making it quite dim. The coffee maker was missing the pot so I couldn't make my herb tea and the towels were thin and scratchy. The TV was pretty lame and I never did find the advertised free HBO on the channel they told me (or on any channel), but I was tired of making complaints by then. However, when I asked, the staff were nice and quickly addressed my concerns (mostly). On the plus side, the pool and jacuzzi were clean and very hot, the way I like it! Breakfast was okay. The shower spray was strong and hot. The bed was pretty comfy too. For the money, some upgrades in linen and a better TV are in order. Overall, the location was good, it wasn't too noisy and we mostly enjoyed our stay.

I don't get out that often but this place seemed pretty bad to me. The staff was fine but the place is rundown, light fixtures were broken, paint peeling and more than a bit depressing. I didn't avail myself of their services but as a simple crash pad, it was a drag. That being said, it was inexpensive and the location was acceptable.

The room was very dirty, the linen was old and not cleaned well. I had to go down to the local target and spend $169.00 on bed sheets, pillows, towels and cleaning supplies. It took me 4 hours to clean the room and change all the linen because there was not a housekeeper by the time we checked in at 6pm. The room was suppose to have cable but the cable service was disconnected. On my second, night we found roaches crawling up the wall and out the a/c unit. The building was not secure, all of the doors that lead to the outside were always open and unattended for anyone to just walk into the hotel. At the end of my visit, there was no one there to check me out. I will never stay at this place again, the pictures are very misleading.
