Pretty Good Value for the Money & Location

Would recommend Tue, Dec 23, 2014
Overall stay good. The outdoor signage could be better as it was sometimes hard to spot and find. Good location for surrouding beach communities including Hermosa and Redondo Beach. Shops close by and some nice restaurants. Poor in-room coffee maker and basic TV/cable channel selections. Overall, nothing fancy but good for the money and location. Free continental breakfast a plus.

The Get away

We were not happy with the service at all. They double charge me for the hotel and the lights in the room was not working at all. We had to ask to move to a different room. The t.v is out dated, well everything was out dated.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!

You will risk your life every time you try to exit the only hotel driveway /parking lot onto the always busy Sepulveda Blvd., which is located just below the top of a hill, therefore, cars diving at 50 mph coming over the hill and not seeing you trying to pull out onto this busy thoroughfare. Even though the website description boasts a refrigerator in every room, we did not have one in ours. The remote control didn't operate the outdated TV in our room so we exchanged it for a different one at the front desk. The replacement remote only turned TV on and off but we still had to get up every time to change the channel or adjust the volume ... just like we had to do 40 years ago! And, yes, as the other reviewers have stated, the ambiance in the room was very musty and the carpet was in dire need of being changed. The only one good thing about this place was the jacuzzi. Overall, we would NOT stay here again, even if it were the last place in the South Bay. Do yourself a favor and go find a Motel 6 ... it will be cheaper, cleaner and more updated than The Wave Hotel.

The San Franciscan in Torrance is an excellent restaurant! They definitely have my future business.

It was ok, pretty much what I expected. Close enough to the beach, not as expensive as other Hotels in the area.

a simple, easy, no frill experience

Would recommend Mon, Oct 27, 2014
this hotel is not it and of itself a destination, just a convenient way to get a night's sleep on your way to somewhere else, be it business or recreation. there's a free shuttle from LAX (i didn't use it but they were good about emailing be back with how to use it), and the rooms are standard clean non-corporate chain hotel rooms. there's a courtyard to the hotel with a pool and hot tub (didn't use it) but that's something of note. i could hear guests staying next to me talking in slightly above normal volumes as i went to be and when i woke up. won't blame the hotel for this though. again, it was not itself a destination, there were no fancy frills, but it was an easy and simple in-and-out experience to stay at the wave.

NEGATIVE 5 - We want our money back

Would not recommend Thu, Oct 23, 2014
What a dump! When we drove into the garage, there was a leak from a pipe in the ceiling and the front desk clerk said he had "heard about it" and the management had been trying to fix it FOR A WEEK! Really? The morning we left, there was a leak from the ceiling in our bathroom coming in from the light fixture. We called and they went upstairs to turn off the water. No one came to our room to mop up the mess or offer us another place to stay. Even if all the rooms were booked, they should have offered us a different hotel room. Inexcusable. This was a filthy room except for the sheets on the bed. Had we arrived earlier and been able to truly see the room, we would not have stayed here. Both phones were so dirty you could not read the writing on them and one was completely missing buttons. Wall paper was lifting, lamp shades were dirty and ripped, the inner curtains that should have been white were brown, the underside of the ironing board had 2" of grungy moldy dust on it. I didn't see this until while I was using the board, the whole thing fell to the ground onto my foot. Luckily I was wearing shoes. When I went to the front desk to complain, the clerk kept saying "No", but I finally got the point across that the room was unfit for his own family members and this was the most unbelievable room I've seen in 50 years of global travel. I've been in the best and I've been in moderate conditions, but this is the all time worst and should be removed from any travel site for it's unsanitary conditions. I am calling the county health department as well, as in today's day and age, we cannot have such hotels doing business with the public. I truly regret that I have to submit such a blunt and negative report. An otherwise special anniversary was ruined when I had to leave the hotel before I could take a shower due to the leak from the bathroom above our room. Take action.

Dining

Darren's in Manhattan Beach was a wonderful restaurant with great service, delicious, healthy food and fun atmosphere. Reservations a must. We had lobster mashed potatoes, beet salad, monk fish, seared ahi and a killer butterscotch brownie for our anniversary dessert.

This place is Awesome

Would recommend Sun, Oct 19, 2014
This place is awesome. 1 mile from the Ocean! Great people who work there. Really nice I had a hot tub in my room and it was great. If you are visiting from out of California have cash on hand if you take a cab, the cab drivers will throw a fit if you use a credit card. Other than the cabs this city and hotel are GREAT!
