Wrong room

Booked the hotel 2 months in advance for a 2 queen bedroom and got there and they gave me a 1 King bed room. put a real wrench in my long anticipated trip to mammoth and the guy at the desk told me there wasnt anything he could do because he gave away all the 2 Queen rooms

Got the job done

The location is the deal breaker if you are going to mammoth to snowboard or ski. I have stayed at the MMI at the main lodge but the price is too high. The MMI doesn't include a microwave and mini fridge like this hotel. There was also a table and two chairs and a balcony for us to use. The two things that can be improved are the wifi connection and the bed covers. We had to sleep in layers to stay warm even with the heater on. Overall you can't beat the price and location. The stay was what I expected and would stay there again.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

If trying to save money, Grocery store food instead of paying a lot more at the restaurants is a big help. Von's is on old mammoth rd.

reasonalbe hotel in Mammoth

Price and location were the draw for me. Staff very friendly. Breakfast & afternoon cookies and hot chocolate were cool. Jacuzzi & area need a few more amenities -- an extra bench & wall rack would help.

Family Trip

This hotel is old and the rooms reflect that. The linens were old and threadbare. It was dimly lit. The bathroom was outdated. I chose not to take a shower that morning. We stayed in five hotels while we were gone and this was the worst but it was priced the same as all the rest. We stayed in a lovely Hampton Inn for $10.00 less. I will say however that the staff was very friendly.

Maintenance needed

The Good ------ 1) The hotel offered one of the cheapest rates for the area. 2) John the manager is a one man army. 3) Toilets are clean, rooms are decent. The Bad -------------- 1) Room door locks refuse to open, as the mechanics are almost worn out. Have to put the card 5 times and push and pull to get the doors open. 2) No iron box and ironing board in the room, upon request John provided them. When I connected it and started ironing my shirt the fuse tripped plunging the room into darkness. 3) The breakfast is very basic
