Steps from the Panorama Gondola, there is no better place to wake up on a powder day. Start your day slope-side on Mammoth Mountain at 9000 feet, just steps away from the Main Lodge and ski slopes in the winter and the Adventure Center and Devil's Postpile in the summer. With the slopes of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area's most diverse terrain right outside your front door, look no further than the Mammoth Mountain Inn. The nearest hotel that comes close to this kind of access is four miles down the mountain road. Nearest slope access: The Mammoth Mountain Inn is a ski in, ski out property adjacent to Main Lodge, which is operational for the entire winter season. New at Mammoth Mountain Inn: Several rooms have been upgraded to include flat screen televisions and pillow-top mattresses. A resort fee of $20 plus tax per room per night will be charged at the front desk. Please inquire or review policies for further details. Nice but old

A decent hotel near the top of a mountain... complete with bears. I had to make sure I got all of the food out of my car. Also there's a stupid resort fee. Staff was very professional.

Excellent Winter And Summer Location

Perfect winter location for winter and summer activities. However, during the shoulder season you are removed from town. I've been coming to Mammoth since 1991 and I have always loved the location. Although the hotel is old and they try to keep it clean and comfortable, it really needs to be torn down and rebuilt. We stayed October 19, 2014 when the hotel was nearly empty. The $20 "Resort Fee" was bogus for that time of year. Personally, I think all the hotels need to be honest. If it is mandatory, then put it in the nightly rate. The parking lot and garage were nearly empty throughout the day and night yet they did not upgrade the room to something closer to the front of the hotel instead of way in the back where it felt like I was in a cellar. Personally, it would have been better PR to upgrade my room as it would not have been any "skin off their back" and it would have gone a long way with customer relations. As a business owner, that is my message to management. Otherwise, everything was as expected for the money compared to other rates in town. The best thing about MMI is the location of the hotel in the winter coupled with the scenery and the cozy fireplace seating area.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to "The Village" ....If you like to watch sports...Lokalani is great and the food is good. If you like a large Tequila selection and excellent Mexican food go to Gomez's. If you like wine & appetizers, try the SideDoor.

Good hotel

Room was spacious, nice and clean. Decor/furnishings are nice, but a little dated. Great price, right by the lifts.

Mammoth Lakes

The hotel itself and the front desk people were awesome. However, there wasn't a room available when you booked it for me. I ended up having to pay more and was charged twice. Once by you for a room that wasn't available and then again by the hotel. Hopefully everything will be straightened out.

Lovely place room could use updating.

Mammoth Lakes is an incredible place. The Mammoth Mountain inn is nice but we stayed in an out of date room that was located directly across from the outside bar with loud music and entertainment. The cost is high for no continental breakfast and an outdated room. $20 extra fee added in fine print at check in to boot. Wanted to cancel to get a room closer to town and the cancelation fee was more than half the price. So we stayed here. . False advertising. Loved all the kid stuff available but I did not need it.

Best place so far!

On a month long road trip, we've used hotel searches often. This hotel is the nicest we've stayed at so far. The room was great, staff was excellent. Other than the $7.50 for 2 cups of coffee, which is outrageous, this was a very pleasant stay for our Yosemite leg. I would recommend the place only on the off ski season, because I bet it's crazy when the powder is around. Kind of far away from the park, but the drive was excellent scenery.
