Great location, great hotel!!
The hotel staff were fabulous. The concierge was very helpful, not only by telling the best way to get to places but also the best places for us to visit. The restaurants were wonderful within the hotel. The staff who looked after luggage were wonderful. The rooms were neat, clean and very spacious. Overall it was a great hotel, especially for my family and I who come from Australia and were not familiar with L.A at all. It was a wonderful experience for us.

Great Location, Decent Hotel
Great location in Downtown. Hotel was clean with friendly staff. You can tell hotel hasn't been remodeled/updated for the last 10-15 years. Parking is expensive at the hotel.

Short walk from hotel
There's a private parking lot a block south of the hotel for around $12/day - less than half the price of hotel parking. Not sure if they offer in and out privledges, but it would be worth checking out.

Very Nice Experience
Right across street from subway, had a painless, 4-minute check in and no hassle for getting there early, room was very clean and quiet. Luxurious lobby and looks kind of like a Vegas hotel. Good night's sleep, 30 seconds to check out.

Great deal for the price
We booked the Wilshire Grand through Orbitz to go see the Porcupine Tree show at Club Nokia at L.A. Live. The main reason was the price and location. It is right across the street from the Metro station, so linking directly from the airport was simple, although it did take over an hour on the train(s). But, you can't beat the location and the price of a train ride ($1.25). L.A. Live is right down the street, within walking distance, and there are just enough restaurants to get by for a few days. We hopped the train to Hollywood and were there in 20 minutes for some other activities. The rooms were very clean, but a little small, particularly the bathroom. The door to the ice machine in the hallway was not labeled, so I walked around for about 10 minutes trying to find it. A little placard would have helped. And, my new litmus test for hotels is free late checkout. The Wilshire passed this well, allowing us to stay until 2 p.m. (but housekeeping did call to check when we were leaving). I would definitely stay there again, especially for $85.

Excellent staff
I was attending a conference, and this hotel was conveniently located. Also, the price was very reasonable considering the accommodations. Despite getting a King bed rather than the 2 doubles I'd requested, there were apologies, and we were given a room on the executive floor... hence, free breakfast and early evening appetizers [both very good]. As noted above, the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Good Stay
When we checked in the room A/C was not working and the room was very small. After calling the desk within 10 minutes we were moved to a larger room and one that the A/C was working. The staff response was very good and we enjoyed the stay and we like the location of the hotel. We have stayed at the hotel before and we have found it to be a nice hotel with a very good and friendly staff.

Go to Olivas(?) Street the old LA. Lots of good restaurants and shops and fun things to do. Yes it is touristy but it is fun.
