Restaurant staff - only saving grace

I loved my room at the LAX Westin - it was clean, quiet, and comfortable...and everyone knows the Heavenly bed is pretty amazing. The staff, however, was rude from the point of check in to check out, with the exception of the restaurant staff, whose guest service was exceptional. Great looking hotel with poor guest service. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay at LAX.

Could be better

Check in took close to an hour because my 4 night reservation had not been recorded. On the 2nd day my keys did not work because my checkin had been listed for 1 night even though I informed the desk clerk of the error and, after a long day, I had to go to the desk and have new keys made and when I got back to the room the TV had no signal and I had to wait for a technician to fix it.

4 stars really???

this hotel lacks what it needs to be a 4stars. but to be honest I did not get to use all of the facilities like sports facilities but the room lacks to be a four star hotel. To add the bed and bedding were not the top notch and it looked old.

Good Location

Easy check-in, I was on the quiet side of the building so I couldn't hear LAX. Check-out was a mess. Tried to do easy check out and they screwed up my bill. Probably won't stay there again. Too many other options around LAX

Overpriced

Do not stay here unless you are on business. The prices are outrageous. $6.50 for a bagel and cream cheese, $8 for a smoothie in a water glass.

ANTS!

My room was infested with little grey ants who were colonizing one of the beds. The internet service in the room was also not working. The hotel staff responded promptly and I had a new room within 15 minutes. But I was worried the ants might come across the hall in the middle of the night!

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

LAX. The neighborhood is bad, but the Westin is next to the airport so convenient if you're flying out early the next day.

This hotel looks good ...

This hotel looks good from the lobby but once you get to the room. The carpet looks old, no frills inside. Everything inside the room has a price tag, including stuff inside the refrigerator. Definitely not family friendly. The bed is ok. Staff is ok.

Comfortable place to stay near airport

3 people waited (standing) at poolside waiting for additional chairs that never arrived. We followed up with a call to the front desk about 20 minutes later, at which time we were told "someone has to check the storage area". The chairs never came. One person had knee problems and remained standing, waiting for the chairs that never arrived. No one came to poolside or called our room to update us.

Not up to Westin Standards....

I don't believe this hotel is currently up to the standards of Westin. The first room I received was musty and smelled as if it had been smoked in. In addition, the chaise lounge chair was shabby and well worn - mis-shapen and had seen I called the front desk and was informed all rooms are non-smoking. I requested a move to another room, which was accomodated. The staff was friendly and responsive.

deceiving advertising

This hotel is made only for those with a one-night layover from the LAX, at best. The rooms were terribly small, and I was on the top floor. The lobby is open and impressive, but that was the best of the hotel. No radio CD nothing. You have to pay extra, alot, to have internet. The restaurant is awful, serving a one page menu that is marked up 250%, going $17 for a caesar salad, which was awful by the way... the parking garage's spaces are extremely small making it impossible to park next to two cars, and even if you're a guest of the hotel, you pay $18/day for parking, or $28 for a one-time valet. The hotel is in a bad part of the City, and you have to walk 3 blocks just to eat only fast food, or some really bad chinese food. the best thing about the hotel room was the double-head shower. even the TV was depressingly small. The mini-bar not only charged you $5 per soda, but if you removed anything (and I mean anything), you also had to pay a $25 restocking fee. So one soda costs you $30; and to top it off, the vending machine on our floor didn't work... Coincidence?? I doubt it!! I travel quite often for work, all over the US, so I've been to quite the amount of hotels... Basically, I would not stay here again, even if traveling right through LA for one day.
