4 Star for certain guests?
4-Star Family Nov 6, 2009
This was not a 4-Star hotel, at least not the room we were assigned. As most of the reviews on other sites state there are ... 4 towers in the Westin Bonaventure. They are color-coded and color-coded. :) Some of the towers house older or not renovated rooms and some of the towets are modernized and definitely 4-star. My family was clearly sent to the 2, possibly 3 star tower. There was nothing wrong with the room, there simply wasn't anything right about it. And for 4 stars guests expect lots of right. Pay attention to the tower you're assigned, and to who else is assigned to those same rooms and you will have an eye-opening experience similar to the one my family had. There is ONLY valet parking. At 32 bucks a night that can ge a doozy. Since the hotel is very close to the Staples Center there are tons of parking garages, but the streets are not well-lit or populated at night. So, park outside the hotel valet for 5.00 a day at your own risk. Would I stay here again? Not likely! There are much better accomodations in the area, unless you're one of the chosen ones who get to experience the 4-Star tower. Good luck!

Great Hotel
CTguy Oct 19, 2009
I was attending an award show and conference this past weekend nearby and my first thought for hotel was the Bonaventure. My ... partner and I had stayed there a few years ago when we were in LA for a wedding and really liked it. Quiet atmosphere helped me get good sleep on a busy schedule. The staff was very professional, helpful and friendly. My first morning there I realized that I had forgotten my razor and shaving cream and was in a rush to get to my conference. I called for my missing supplies and a staff member had them at my door in five minutes! The room was also spotless and had a great view. My minor complaint is that my safe didn't work, but I was able to store my valuables at the desk. A little inconvenient, but not the end of the world. I highly recommend the Bonaventure!

I had a busy weekend, so I really ate in the hotel for the most part. Several restaurant choices on the 4th floor. I did get in late two nights in a row and found only one of them open after 10pm, but the food was good. I don't remember the name, but it was good pub food. Johnny Rockets and Quiznos across the street for convenience, too.

I expected a luxury hotel (not five star, but not a motel 6. At reception, there was nobody at the counter. Then, one staff ... appeared and took someone from the preferred line ahead of me (ok). But then as several more people lined up in the Starwood preferred line, a second staff came and just helped the preferred guests until all of them were served. I was made to feel like filth. When registered, I asked for a high floor. The clerk snipped "you can only have the 28th floor (which was fine) but he said it like that floor was reserved for discount rooms. The room itself had a door that was stuck so we could not get in without help. The room seemed like it had not been used for months. We had to request ammenities like soap, as the room was not stocked. The shower head did not adjust (probably frozen from calcium buildup). The TV reception was poor (not sure if this was the TV or the cable). The TV reception in the lounges and parking lot were fine. It seemed like nobody who cared about anything ever checked this room before renting it. [...]I will never stay at that hotel again and will tell my friends to avoid this hotel when they visit LA.

The hotel is close to Metro. Not good for tourists. It's outdated. There is a musty smell everywhere and a constant sound of ... traffic, though you don't see any. The staff is nice, and the beds and pillows are awesome. The hotel has shops, restaurants, etc. Like one stop shopping. Good if you are staying for business.

Book throught the hotel that way if you cannot make your trip you will at least get part of your money back. Also i found out after arriving in Las vegas that if i had book through the hotel I was staying at I would have gotten the same room for about $30 dollars cheaper. I was fool once but never again! I stayed at the Luxor which was very nice. I had a Tower Room as opposed to the pyramid rooms which are considerably smaller in size. The staff was absolutely outstanding in every aspect.

Short Business Trip
Jroc Sep 2, 2009
I travel to Los Angeles 2 to 3 times per month for business. Other than occassionally staying near a specific client, I ... always stay downtown near my company's office. I have been traveling to Los Angeles for 3 years and have stayed at over 10 different downtown hotels. For the past year I have stayed almost exclusively at the Westin Bonaventure because, quite frankly, they are the best overall hotel downtown from my vast experience with downtown LA hotels. Their customer service is great and it's a fun hotel to experience.

Check out the Steakhouse on the top floor of the hotel as it is really a treat. There is also another restaurant with more assortment of dishes attached to the hotel. There are also a bunch of good places to eat within walking distance of the hotel, whether you are looking to sit somewhere or grab something on the go. There is a movie theater across the street from the hotel as well.

I missed my morning flight the day of my trip so I was a little behind on the things I planned to do on my trip. I arrived at ... the hotel and was greeted by the friendly hotel staff and told them my whoa's of trying to get to LA that they gave me a upgrade. The view from the room was breath taking. The next morning I set out to tour the town. Everything is pretty much in walking distance from the hotel such as the Walt Diseny Concert Hall and Musuem of Contempary Art. Hollywood Blvd is hop skip and jump on the train. As well as Universal Studios.

The room is small and kind of crowded. We have four people in the room but they always gave us only three for everything even ... we already left a note next to the tips. The parking fee is too expensive, $32 per day?! I think Westin can't compete with other hotels in the same level, such as Hilton. Next time, I would rather to choose Hilton than Westin.
