Quick Get Away

Standard is a great hotel. It lives up to the hype. Very private and quiet rooms. Great bed and high quality sheets! Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Room lighting is flexible: you can make it dim, sexy, moody or focused. Room service is priced a bit high though but the staff and service was excellent. If you want to save some money park your car a few blocks away from the hotel there are better deals for parking than the standard parking lot (rip off). Also there is a Famima (its like a 7-11) a block or two away open 24 hours. The neighborhood is safe to walk around.

Great Unique Hotel

Had a great experience. Staff at front desk was nice/attentive. Room service food was very good, reasonably priced. Rooms were kitschy but cool. Rooftop pool/bar was unique. Could hear loud music in room at night (assume it was coming from roof), but in this hotel, it's almost expected (and they provide ear plugs). Not a hotel to bring kids!! Only complaint was the free wi-fi; it was spotty and I couldn't stream video without lots of annoying hiccups and it kept freezing some sites I use for work on my phone -- I ended up just turning off my mobile wi-fi -- worked much better (they offered a $9.95 upgrade, but in my mind if you offer free wi-fi, make it quality or just don't offer it). All in all, it was a great stay.

Great location; Caffee Primo down the street: Great

We are an older couple, so while a stall shower is best, the fact of being in a glass rectangle with no grab bars or slip prevention flooring created stress. We had to ask for a second chair. And a raised bed on a platform is dangerous for us old folks. But we knew it was a hotel for the young, so we managed. But if you are over 55, you might want accommodations elsewhere. The best gift was Caffee Primo down the street. Reasonable and delicious!

Quite decent

As soon as we arrived, we knew that it was one hipster hotel that accommodates to the younger crowd. That is what we expected and hoped for anyway, so it worked out. The staff was fantastic and courteous, the room was clean and organized, etc. Some complain that this place is not as nice as priced, but it is downtown Los Angeles after all. Overall, good experience, not amazing.

Great location, some strong positives, some negatives

The location could simply not be improved upon in downtown Los Angeles. It is near good shopping, etc. The room itself was attractive, but "trendy" in an way not designed for comfort. The bed was a mattress and box springs on a 4 inch platform rather than a bed frame, so I would "roll out of bed" as standing up was odd. There was only a single, unpadded plastic chair in the room, which was inadequate. The television is a rather small one. The elevator was S-L-O-W and a problem. On the other hand, the staff was superb and the restaurant was open 24 hours. The valet parking service was able to get my car in less than one minute (repeatedly) which is much, much better than having to call 30 minutes prior to leaving and then just hoping that it is ready when you need it.

Modern and trendy hotel

I stayed at the Huge room with a long size bed. This room was on the 12th floor and we had a great view! The Standard also has pool parties on the rooftop pool, and with my room I received free admission! Such nice front desk staff! Amazing place to stay! Highly recommend it!

The Standard

The roof top at The Standard was so beautiful. Great view/atmosphere/pool. The rooms were ok. The shower is in the room with only glass separating the shower from the room. This is a problem if you are staying with family and want privacy. Kind of inconvenient. But I will return to the roof top for sure. The food is really good too!

nice!

It was an updated older hotel with fabulous rooftop bar and pool. While my mojito was a little expensive, overallit was a good experience, nice staff including housekeeping. I did try to order breakfast in the room when I got stuck doing work, but the line was busy for 20 minutes. I called the front desk and the girl in a flat monotone kept saying "line's busy hold" every 30 seconds. Perhaps there should be a larger kitchen staff or at least a system in which they call you back. Ended up going to a cafe an hour later.
