Awesome Night

I had an out town friend stay in LA with me so I booked him the Wow suite and he was blown away, we had a blast at the rooftop bar and the suite was modern and sleek. Mini bar did not work but Donald at the front desk took care of our request, would definitely stay here again.

a different experience

The Standard is very nice and modern hotel. It has a very popular roof top party bar with swimming pool. Our room was very nice, but different, The bathroom featured a shower with a full view window from the main room. The hotel also features a ping pong room for guests.

Hip hostel ?!?

Came down to LA to visit friends for the weekend and booked this hotel using United miles, luckily I did not have to pay for this place as I would not stay here again. The rooms are stark, bathrooms not functional - clear glass from shower next to bed (awkward), non smoking room smelled like smoke/pot, the pool is a free for all and anyone can use it before 7pm really?!? Was staying upstairs and went to the pool and the security guard wouldn't let guests in unless they had a wristband, had to go out by valet to get one, way to treat guests. If you want a chill hotel that treats there guests well then this is not the hotel for you. This place strives to be a hip hotel but really is a cheap hostel!

Pretty Standard

Generally we had a fun experience at the hotel, which definitely has some outrageous amenities and unique character. The place is geared towards a younger, "hipster" clientele, which it seems to be targeting quite well. Although for a "4-star" hotel, the rooms could use improvement in both cleanliness and comfort--they weren't bad merely not what I expected from an above average hotel. The staff albeit courteous and accommodating seems stretched thin at times (unexpectedly long waits for housekeeping requests, room service etc.) A big let down was the inaccessibility to the rooftop pool over our weekend stay, which was constantly hosting club events.

Great Location, Comfortable Stay

I was here for a conference so I wanted to stay close. The location was perfect. It was also convenient to have valet parking available albeit a little pricey. This hotel also doubles as club/bar that's open to everyone, not just hotel guests so it gets pretty crowded on weekends. The rooms itself is pretty quirky with the see-through showers. I wouldn't recommend sharing rooms if you're traveling with friends. However, the tempurpedic beds were really comfortable. All in all, I did enjoy my stay.

Many of the breakfast places in the area don't open til 10am at the very least. The Standard's restaurant in the lobby is open 24/7 and the food was great.

Great stay!

Fun hotel in a great location in downtown. It's within walking distance to a lot of things and the metro station is only 2 blocks away. There are tons of different things to do within the hotel if you have the time and energy. The only thing I would warn people of is the shower in our room was see through. So, from anywhere in the room everything in the bathroom is visible. I'm not sure if it's like that in all of the rooms but could get weird if traveling with friends!

What the W tries to be.

This is it. The epitome of trendy. Rooftop pool party, celebrities, 460 sq ft room, modern styling, overstocked mini bar, comfortable bed - I could go on. Was it really worth the price? If it's not out of reach of your checkbook and you're in your early twenties... Yes it was worth it. It really feels like this is what The W models itself after. The W feels far less accessible though.

Unusual but a lot of fun

I'm probably a bit older than the typical Standard resident, it is clearly targeted at the young and fun loving. It's still a great location in Downtown LA and the bars and restaurants are good quality and well run. Very comfortable beds but the room was a bit spartan for my taste. Valet parking was a bit pricey.
