Old meets new at this historic Los Angeles institution
The Los Angeles Athletic Club opened in 1880 as the finest recreational establishment in the city. The style of the building certainly reflects this long tradition. Fusing turn-of-the-century style and edgy, contemporary design, the Los Angeles Athletic Club offers guests a very distinctive establishment. As its name suggests, a wide selection of fitness facilities are offered. Areas for guests to relax and dine are available, including the Grill Room, Main Bar, Duke's, and the 8th Floor Snack Bar.
3 Reasons To Stay

  • Situated near the main landmarks of Los Angeles, including Hollywood and Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Athletic Club Rooms
Suites in the Los Angeles Athletic Club reflect the fusion of old and new found in the rest of the hotel. Classic wooden furnishings blend seamlessly with modern fabrics and sleek, functional pieces to create truly remarkable rooms. Suites are decorated in restrained tones of creams and coffees, with occasion flourishes of color. The furniture in each suite was specifically chosen and custom-built. Suites feature custom treated windows with Roman shades and original artwork from the Los Angeles Athletic Club vault. The overall styling of each suite gives a refined, private club feel, echoing the prestige of the club since its inception in the late 1800s. Room amenities include flat-screen televisions, full wireless Internet access, and air-conditioning systems. Guests enjoy luxurious bedding with high-quality Frette linens and exquisite Sferra blankets. Nightly turndown service and complimentary plush terry robes are provided. Given the sporting nature of this establishment, healthy eating is encouraged, and guests will find complimentary fruit on arrival in their suites. Great four night stay

I was in LA for a conference and stayed here for four nights. The room was very comfortable. It was great having a daily breakfast buffet included in the room price. The restaurant/bar Duke's in the hotel was great for a good lunch at a reasonable price. There is a rooftop patio which is nice to smoke or have a drink on and has a great view of downtown LA. The staff was very friendly and the location is great. You can easily walk to many of the downtown attractions. I would definitely stay here again.

A great place for fitness enthusiasts, couples, and singles.

I've stayed at the Los Angeles Athletic Club two years in a row for the Adobe MAX conference. I originally chose them over one of the preferred hotels because they had four and five star ratings online. As a vegetarian it's hard to find hotels that offer healthy tasty vegetarian fare. It's even more difficult to find nice hotels at a reasonable price, with great amenities, in a great central location, inexpensive covered parking, and without a lot of noise from kids. Because these conferences are intense and go from 0700-2200 it's important to be comfortable when you are in the room. The Los Angeles Athletic Club caters to everything you need. They offer better fitness facilities than you will find at any other hotel - full olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, racketball, squash, basketball, tracks, weights, yoga, and so much more. A complete spa with very reasonable prices (less than $60 for a 1 hour massage). They offer several restaurants from a casual bar for lunch, to a formal grill room with lobster, to my favorite, a snack bar with wraps, salads, soup, chips, and fruit. Even though the restaurants close earlier than other hotels, they will accommodate by delivering food to your room if you're not there to order it and retrieve it. They also offer unheard of $12/day parking with in and out privileges. The rooms are always very clean, the beds are incredibly comfortable. There's a mini fridge and safe in every room, a desk with a lamp, wireless internet (free), television (not HD), cable, benches, sitting chairs, plenty of lighting, bathtub/shower combination. And they welcome you with a fresh fruit tray (usually includes three pieces of fruit, cheese, and crackers). And if that's not enough, a full American breakfast buffet every day you stay there. The staff are also incredible. And even though it's a non-tipping hotel, I tip the cleaning staff daily, and at the restaurants. And it is appreciated. I will be staying there any time I'm in LA because they are just that good. And I highly recommend them.

If you're a vegetarian definitely try the tofu wrap or salad at the 8th floor snack bar. You've never had tofu so tasty. They also offer Gardein chick'n tacos. A nice plus for those of us who don't eat meat.
