Great four night stay
I was in LA for a conference and stayed here for four nights. The room was very comfortable. It was great having a daily breakfast buffet included in the room price. The restaurant/bar Duke's in the hotel was great for a good lunch at a reasonable price. There is a rooftop patio which is nice to smoke or have a drink on and has a great view of downtown LA. The staff was very friendly and the location is great. You can easily walk to many of the downtown attractions. I would definitely stay here again.

A great place for fitness enthusiasts, couples, and singles.
I've stayed at the Los Angeles Athletic Club two years in a row for the Adobe MAX conference. I originally chose them over one of the preferred hotels because they had four and five star ratings online. As a vegetarian it's hard to find hotels that offer healthy tasty vegetarian fare. It's even more difficult to find nice hotels at a reasonable price, with great amenities, in a great central location, inexpensive covered parking, and without a lot of noise from kids. Because these conferences are intense and go from 0700-2200 it's important to be comfortable when you are in the room. The Los Angeles Athletic Club caters to everything you need. They offer better fitness facilities than you will find at any other hotel - full olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, racketball, squash, basketball, tracks, weights, yoga, and so much more. A complete spa with very reasonable prices (less than $60 for a 1 hour massage). They offer several restaurants from a casual bar for lunch, to a formal grill room with lobster, to my favorite, a snack bar with wraps, salads, soup, chips, and fruit. Even though the restaurants close earlier than other hotels, they will accommodate by delivering food to your room if you're not there to order it and retrieve it. They also offer unheard of $12/day parking with in and out privileges. The rooms are always very clean, the beds are incredibly comfortable. There's a mini fridge and safe in every room, a desk with a lamp, wireless internet (free), television (not HD), cable, benches, sitting chairs, plenty of lighting, bathtub/shower combination. And they welcome you with a fresh fruit tray (usually includes three pieces of fruit, cheese, and crackers). And if that's not enough, a full American breakfast buffet every day you stay there. The staff are also incredible. And even though it's a non-tipping hotel, I tip the cleaning staff daily, and at the restaurants. And it is appreciated. I will be staying there any time I'm in LA because they are just that good. And I highly recommend them.

If you're a vegetarian definitely try the tofu wrap or salad at the 8th floor snack bar. You've never had tofu so tasty. They also offer Gardein chick'n tacos. A nice plus for those of us who don't eat meat.

Great facilities...very average rooms
Being a functioning athletic club, this property has great athletic facilities (boxing ring, basketball court, olympic pool, fitness center, etc.). However, this is THE ONLY reason to stay here. The location is in a rather scummy area of L.A., and the rooms are small, dark and no frills. If you are not into sports, beware! Finally, the check-in and check-out procedures are as ancient as the space itself. Actually took 10 min. to check out by supplying a c/c to the front desk, [...]

Wonderful First Experience
I have been coming to LA for business every couple of months for over a year now, and have FINALLY found the best hotel for my fashion industry shopping needs. This hotel is convenient, spacious, gracious and and experience in itself! Even though I didn't partake in the Gym experience, I really enjoyed the SPA after a day of Market Buying - relaxing in the jacuzzi and breathing deeply in the steam was just what my body needed to regenerate for the next day. Also, the fact that the gym is actually a club gym - meaning persons from the actual "real world" attend - made me feel less the outsider "business traveller" and more part of some community - which was truly a unique aspect. The continental breakfast was fantastic - freshly prepared omlettes & waffles!!! Yay yay yay. The perfect ending to my stay at the club. Thanks so much to the staff for making up my mind - finally as to where I will ALWAYS stay when I come to downtown LA! PS - and, oh yes, the room was spacious and actually had a view! - all this for $150. Don't pass this up.
