Old meets new at this historic Los Angeles institution
The Los Angeles Athletic Club opened in 1880 as the finest recreational establishment in the city. The style of the building certainly reflects this long tradition. Fusing turn-of-the-century style and edgy, contemporary design, the Los Angeles Athletic Club offers guests a very distinctive establishment. As its name suggests, a wide selection of fitness facilities are offered. Areas for guests to relax and dine are available, including the Grill Room, Main Bar, Duke's, and the 8th Floor Snack Bar.
3 Reasons To Stay
  • A traditional leisure resort, established in 1880 but refurbished with modern appliances
  • A selection of bars and eateries allow guests to relax with great cuisine
  • Situated near the main landmarks of Los Angeles, including Hollywood and Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Athletic Club Rooms
Suites in the Los Angeles Athletic Club reflect the fusion of old and new found in the rest of the hotel. Classic wooden furnishings blend seamlessly with modern fabrics and sleek, functional pieces to create truly remarkable rooms. Suites are decorated in restrained tones of creams and coffees, with occasion flourishes of color. The furniture in each suite was specifically chosen and custom-built. Suites feature custom treated windows with Roman shades and original artwork from the Los Angeles Athletic Club vault. The overall styling of each suite gives a refined, private club feel, echoing the prestige of the club since its inception in the late 1800s. Room amenities include flat-screen televisions, full wireless Internet access, and air-conditioning systems. Guests enjoy luxurious bedding with high-quality Frette linens and exquisite Sferra blankets. Nightly turndown service and complimentary plush terry robes are provided. Given the sporting nature of this establishment, healthy eating is encouraged, and guests will find complimentary fruit on arrival in their suites. Guests can enjoy beautiful city views of Los Angeles with a complimentary daily buffet breakfast, as well as access to all of the sporting amenities.

Great four night stay

I was in LA for a conference and stayed here for four nights. The room was very comfortable. It was great having a daily breakfast buffet included in the room price. The restaurant/bar Duke's in the hotel was great for a good lunch at a reasonable price. There is a rooftop patio which is nice to smoke or have a drink on and has a great view of downtown LA. The staff was very friendly and the location is great. You can easily walk to many of the downtown attractions. I would definitely stay here again.

Downtown LA Exploration

Couldn't be better. Lots of history in this place. The "athletic" part of the athletic club is unbelievable. Pool, weights, cardio, all excellent. Within walking distance to everything. Excellent parking value. The breakfast was included in the hotel rate and it was outstanding. Will stay here next time.

Friend's Wedding Weeekend

First time in LA, it was a little hard to navigate myself to the hotel. Other than that, it was great experience in every way. Two things: 1. It was easter weekend, probably because of that there was no early check in available. 2. Parking is not free. Its $12 (?) per night.

rookie mistake

spent a fair amount of dough to stay at this place. service was great, place was clean, but it was the worlds smallest hotel room. fortunately, we only were there for one night but any longer would have been a challenge. there were some other issues like the room being 85 degrees when we got there (someone turned tstat up) and the shower was really hard to dial in the right temp. biggest issue was that the AC unit was really loud. picking this hotel was a rookie mistake on my part, next time ill spend the extra $75 to stay at the marriot across from the stadium.

Excellent value, downtown location is great

Second visit to this downtown hotel. Excellent facilities, with nicely appointed rooms, quiet, spacious, and even includes a welcome treat. Breakfast buffet is bountiful and high quality. Staff are welcoming, helpful, and very pleasant. Downtown location is convenient, close to many excellent dining options, and walking distance to museums.

Great for singles and couples.

The Athletic Club is decorated in dark woods, deep reds and leather furniture. Imagine an upper class man cave where one would smoke cigars and sip on Expensive Brandy. The walls are decorated with vintage photos of the history of the club. Very nice. Parking is $12 and the parking garage is next to the hotel. The staff at check in were very friendly, however the rest of the staff are not and don't speak unless spoken to. The room was decorated in dark grays and burgundy with 2 leather chairs, a computer desk, iPhone alarm clock that does charge and a mini fridge. WiFi is complementary. They also leave a plate of fruit and cheese which I placed in the fridge for the next morning. Very nice. The Breakfast Buffett is also complementary and was small but very good. Checkout was @ 1pm. Awesome. Upon exit our parking ticket did not work to exit and I had to show the parking attendant my parking voucher from check in. Very important not to lose that. Overall I liked the Hotel and would recommend it for singles and couples but definitely not a place for children.

Excellent surprise

I was anticipating a "typical" business hotel, but was pleasantly surprised with the boutique nature of this place. The hotel portion of the LACC is well appointed with a boutique atmosphere. The gym/athletic facilities are top rate, with an old-school style (but definitely not shabby). The hotel employees were professional and friendly. I will definitely return during my next LA trip.

Great!

Great location. Lots of restaurants, night clubs and shopping. I loved the old school decorum but it's defiantly a mans hotel. Lots of wood and dark colors. Wish I had more time to use the gym and library. I just wish the bathroom was more up to date. Separate vanity was nice but the tub and toilet were very dated. And parking was not covered in the cost of the room.. $12.00 a day.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

More than 4 night clubs within 1 block was super nice. went from club to club got sideways. Went back to room to take an hour nap then back to the clubs by 1 to close out the night. 711 on the corner for water and Monster to go with with a bottle of vodka from the bottle shop up the bodega to keep it going on the rooftop deck till dawn.
