Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel

I stayed on Christmas Day & checked out the next morning. Check-in process had a few hiccups...I had booked the room through a third party & they had my card # on file, but when it wouldn't scan they wanted to take a manual imprint, which I was unwilling to allow. I eventually satisfied the clerk with an $80.00 cash deposit (which was returned later w/ no problems). The ads all say wifi is 12.95 per day, but the girl explained it was actually free. Valet parking is $28.00 but there is a parking lot unaffiliated with the hotel immediately behind (self-park) for 12.00 a night. This hotel is VERY close to the airport but was not in the flight paths so noise was not a factor (I heard only 2 planes during my stay). The room was well appointed (2 Queens, big tv, comfy chair, table) but lighting was not the best (still a little dim with all lamps on) and only the entrance & bath light were operated from wall switches. Most others I had to reach under the shade to turn on/off. The toilet in my room flushed but you had to hold the handle down for it to flush cleanly- not what I expect from a '4-star' room. The best part of my interaction with the staff was at check-out. The admin was quick and very friendly. I turned in a comment card and thought I was on my way...then realized I'd left my parking pass (again, not using their valet service) in my room. The staff rapidly re-keyed a card for me. When I came back down, they had read my comments and were eager to make things right for me, by way of giving me several thousand points in their travel rewards program. The check-out staff made an unremarkable stay a pleasant experience.

far from everything except for airport, not many restaurant around

The Hotel elevators during my stay were not working and had to take maintenance elevators which took about 20-30min for them just to arrive. A very big inconvenience. Also, the room which i was designated was by the exit doors, which you can hear the door slamming every time someone went out. On top of it all, during the late mornings, you can hear piping noise in the walls as well. Overall, i was only staying here for a very short time and it was what it was. The room was decorated very nicely, but for a big name hotel chain, you would expect a bit more.

The Gateway Sheraton was comfortable, however the room wasn't exceptionally large. The bathroom was pretty basic. The location was nice considering it was so close to the airport. The help desk and shuttle service were exceptional.

I was especially pleased that they allowed an early check in on a Sunday at about noon. Would recommend to anyone who has an early flight out of LAX

Having stayed in this hotel for more than 7 times i am also comfortable coming back. My catch is its closeness to the LAX airport which reduces the time taken to catch my flights

The Hotel is a nice property in a not nice area. The Food was Very Expensive for the plate size in the in-hotel portion. At Shulas that was to be expected and although the staff was friendly it was below my past visits to the Shulas in Indy. The lack of in-room wireless is a bust for me as I have to be able to work 24/7. Sitting in the lobby provided some entertainement, but was a poor option. That being said I will look at other properties next visit.

I oly needed a place near the airport for one night and the Sheraton worked well. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful.

The hotel is located very convinently near the airport. The beds were extremly comfortable. We slept very well. Overall good experiance with the hotel.

This hotel was walking distance from the airport and the guest services were great. I use this hotel for work all the time and am always pleased by the service and the quality of rooms. Great restuarant downstairs "shulas steakhouse" and there is a subway across the way. Great hotel!
