Good value
The room was spotlessly clean, with nice sheets and pillows. Very spartan decor-- only the bed, nightstands, a desk/chair and tv. Not even any pictures on the walls. No closet either, just a small wardrobe. It made me a bit nervous that the outside doors were unlocked, so anyone could come in from the street. But the neighborhood was quiet and seemed safe enough (in a residential area of Koreatown) that I felt comfortable taking a long walk in the morning. The location was convenient for me. Close enough to Hollywood attractions, but off the beaten path. If you're just looking for a quiet nice clean place to sleep, this is perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

Not a Clean Freak
Dirty. Two star hotel at best.
This place is a dump. Filthy dirty. Don't be fooled by the photos that look like this hotel is a cool and contemporary. It was probably remodeled 5 years ago or so and has NOT been maintained well. Scratched floors, dirty walls, hair in bedding, sticky rings on the night stand, dirty grout upon bathroom tiles, filthy bathroom walls and baseboards. I was so disgusted upon checking in at 5:30 for what should have been a relaxing evening that I walked over to Starbucks and worked until they closed at 10:00. Bolted out the door minutes after waking up. Nice job with materials on renovation. Helpful staff. Just dirty. Also, no blow dryer in the room and no box do tissues in the room. Very bad experience.

Some surprises but overall OK
No blankets on the bed but staff brought a great cotton one. Tub lever failed to block drain - took a shower instead. Garage ceiling height very low. Our Land Rover with roof rack was .5" too high in one spot - big noise but no damage. Lobby is under construction. Street vendors ply their wares in early evening with clown horns and musical ice cream truck music. But this did not run late. Easy walk to 6th Street and restaurants and Korean market.

Looking for basic, it's perfect
Value on this hotel was fantastic... The room was nothing fancy but better than most chain hotels I have stayed in. It offered a comfortable bed, Direct TV and free wireless. I enjoyed my stay.

Simple, clean, inexpensive.
Just needed to stay one night near the Staples Center. The Shelter was perfect. It was clean, comfortable, had parking, and all at a good rate. If you just need a place to crash, this is it.

Great clean stay
We loved this boutique hotel. The rooms were nice and clean. Walls were paper thin. The area isn't bad but you're right in Korea Town. Easy access to metro and public transportation. Free parking! Great cheap place to stay highly recommended!

You get what you pay for....the good and the bad.
The good - It's cheap! The bed was pretty comfortable! The room was clean. The staff was helpful. Free bottles of water coming in and going each day. Free internet and free parking. The channel line up was great. If you don't have a car, it was close to the train station. If you don't want to take the train, taxis are pretty reasonable averaging us about $13 each way in Hollywood. If you are NOT going to spend tons of time in your hotel, it is a value. The bad-It was cheap. The building was very poorly ventilated. My bathroom ceiling had what appeared to be mold and a kind of musty smell throughout the property. The hallways were clean but dark and emergency stairwells were kind of suspect looking. There were no amenities which you don't miss until you don't have them. No pool. No place to lounge. No bar (which there is room for in the very sparsely decorated lobby). The only perks were bath products in the room. I could hear every footsteep made by the guest above me but after a while I got used to it. The hotel is in the middle of a neighborhood with tons of dog walkers; their furry friend's droppings attracted tons of flies while we waited outstide for taxis.

updated, no fuss hotel
This hotel was clearly going through a transition at the time we visitied, but the staff was very attentive, the rooms were clean and modern, and the location was ideal for sightseeing around downtown Los Angeles.

Good stay
The staff were nice and friendly, the room needs more decor and there was no ice machine or iron in the room. We felt like we were bugging the staff (although they were nice about it) when we had to ask for ice every few hours. It would be nice to get a machine. Also im glad parking is free because the lot is so small and the cars have to be double and triple parked. I think the room was nice just too plain. Very clean.

A place to park and take the Metro
It is a good hotel to have a place to park the car and take the Metro. This modern and boutique hotel is in a bit of an antiquated building, but it was served it's purpose. It was clean and staff was friendly.
