Location and necessities

Stayed at the O for the Pac10 Basketball tournament 3/10-3/13/10. Hotel is mid block. Not highly visible but very nice. The rooms have been remodeled to emphasize max usage in minimum space. Built in desk was very convenient for using laptop and doing some work. The wall mounted lcd tv was excellent. I liked the wired internet connection for good speed, security and no surprises. The O is a great location. Close to Staples(3 blocks) close to a Ralph's supermarket in case you need anything. The continental breakfast was simple, with apples, oranges, milk, orange juice, coffee tea and croissants. I probably would have preferred something hot but it was healthy, simple and convenient. The bed was comfortable, the a/c worked and the windows opened. The alley noise was noticeable in the morning as delivery trucks and garbage pickup could be heard but the fresh air was worth it. Turned off the a/c after cooling the room off because it was pretty noisy for sleeping. Clean and simple. Nice remodel. Would definitely come back to stay.

Simple, cool, contemporary, good value.

Nice quiet contemporary boutique hotel. Rooms very small, small bathrooms with no room for toiletries. Cool bathroom fixtures but poor functionality.

Not great

The location was great. Walking distance to Staples Center/LA Live and a metro station. LA downtown has cleaned up a lot, so the location was fine. It's what you call a boutique or a love hotel, if anyone understands. There's a very thin difference between modern and cheesy. There's only one elevator in this five floor building with a blood red lighting inside, the bathroom didn't have a door. There's a sliding tinted glass door to shut the bathroom, but it doesn't keep anything away except for the privacy. The shower doesn't have a door or a curtain. The towels were clean but generated a lot of dust. The morning complimentary "continental breakfast" was served with orange juice, coffee and muffins/croissants. There's a free WiFi offered in the lobby only. Since this is an old building, the cellular networks have weak signals. My 3G signal was really weak, and couldn't use it in my room. (I don't want to blame AT&T, since right out side of the building and most areas of LA, I had a great coverage everywhere.) If looking for a cheap place to stay in downtown LA, this is a pretty good option. But once you add up the parking per day ($18 per day), it might add up to not so cheap.

Great Location, Super price!!

Great location - downtown LA; and prices were so good I upgraded on the room! Rooms can be small but I knew that going in, very European and that doesn't bother me. Nice alternative to corporate hotel.

Ok at best

Great first impression in the lobby! However, the guys at the front desk (although very nice) are all but interested in working and servicing guests. Be prepared to wait until they get done gabbing with each other or showing friends their "art" on their laptops in the back. The rooms are very modern, but also very small. Good size for one person, but they were a little too cramped for my husband, me, and our luggage. The showers look great but very impractical for taking showers, unless you want to hold the shower head attachment the entire time. Water ends up spraying all over the tiny bathroom. The sink leaves no room for setting your toiletries and good luck trying to get ready in the morning using a mirror. No vent means the mirrors stay fogged up, inside and outside of bathroom. There is a long desk across from the bed that I ended up using in the mornings to get ready (good thing I brought a handheld mirror!). No wi fi, you have to plug in an ethernet cord (ask the front desk for one). Final say: Good-looking hotel, but very impractical.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The location of the hotel is great for quick stops like Coffee Bean (there are two around the corner)and Ralph's grocery store. Also, park in the garage next to the hotel. Ask the front desk about the unlimited parking ($18/day, which is entirely affordable when you consider the low rates at the hotel).

Wonderful Getaway

The hotel was in a very central location to what I want to do, go and see. For Downtown it was in a very pleasant area and central located for traveling the metro rail system.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Within walking distance from Sprint Center where all sporting events are. Centrally located to Metro Train travel from and to airport which is alot cheaper than a taxi need to have more information on how to connect with the FlyAway bus that goes into the Union Station and then train stop to downtown area.
