Favorite hotel in L.A.

There are many reasons to love the Miyako. The rooms are very comfortable, meaning you get nice fluffy beds and duvets, free DSL and WiFi and Japanese toilets that have more buttons than most cellphones. I wish it had a pool, but the location more than makes up for it. It's right across the street from Daikokuya, one of the best ramen joints in the country. There's karaoke close by and some great Japanese markets.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Daikokuya, right across the street, has fantastic cheap ramen with unbelievable broth. $8.95 for the house ramen.

Very very great

Very good location. Walls were thin but otherwise no complaints. The staff was outstanding and the overall experience was a pampering. In comparison with options much more expensive and less personable...go with Miyako, even if you do not speak Japanese.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Try the Marukai Supermarket for cheap groceries and housewares in Weller Court Shopping Mall plaza or the Grand Kyoto Hotel garden on floor 2 for a little peace and quiet, a little music. Museums within 1 block, Japanese Village with great small shops and touristy stuff is just around the corner. This is the friendliest neighborhood in Los Angeles and despite some appearances, one of the safest. A1

good hotel for the price

This is a decent hotel for the price. Rooms could use a little upgrade. The bathroom sink was cracked, everything else was ok. It's right in Little Toyko, so there's plenty of restaurants to eat at in walking distance. You have to pay to get into the spa. The rooms were a bit lumpy, needs new mattress. Parking is 17 bucks a night, so we just drove around and found street parking. You'll just have to move your car by 8am or put money in the meter. We saved a lot of money by doing this.

Very nice hotel

The hotel room was very nice, with all the amenities (including a flat screen TV bigger than my one at home). The room's slightly crowded just because they put a lot of useful things in it. Nice size desk, hidden mini fridge (that really gets cold fast), chair and ottoman, 2 beds, etc. The hotel and room had many Asian decorator touches that I liked. The room was a great price and valet parking is only $18, but public parking is next door if you prefer.

Charming, well maintained, older hotel

I chose the Miyako for its central location in downtown Los Angeles as I was visiting several people in various directions. Although I mostly ate with friends, the dining in and around Little Tokyo is unlimited in type and price. Valet parking was their only option, at $19 a day plus tax and tip. After one night I parked for $14 in next door public garage, but the elevators were so unreliable that I turned to walking up the ramps. But this situation would by no means prevent a future visit!

I like the Miyako hotel/

I'm Japanese. I'm familiar with this hotel. I know this hotel is good before I went there. For example, all of stuff are kind, they can speak both English and Japanese, and rooms are clean anytime.

Great hotel for the price!

I stayed here with my bf and several friends during our trip to Universal Studios and Six Flags Magic Mountain. For the price we paid, it's well worth it! The rooms were very clean and nothing needed fixing, which is always a plus. The bed was nice and I LOVED the white comforter they had. It was sooo comfortable! The staff were friendly and helpful. Also, there are a lot of Japanese restaurants within walking distance. We tried Daikokuya across from the hotel. It's a small, but very delicious restaurant that opens late. Their prices cannot be beat! Overall, a wonderful experience. I would definitely come back to the Miyako Hotel!

Good location

The hotel in a good location, not far from convention center. Good Japanese food around. We found $8.00 parking very close to the hotel.( Hotel charges $20.00) But the air conditioning in our room was old, the wall was broken, so it's very noisy. The bathroom sink was broken, but the Japanese toilet was great.
