Avoid Room 309

I had room 309 which was awful! Peeling wall paper, broken bedside lamp, desk ceiling light, and coffee maker (they did replace the coffee maker!). The carpet was starting to look a little warn. The room had a terrible view of the hotel's roof and it's venting/mechanical systems. We did spend quite a bit of time in the room so this was particularly bad. I called the front desk and the person on duty said there were no other rooms available to switch. The room was clean and the cleaning staff very nice. We asked for an extra coffee packet and we got it everyday after we asked which made the coffee satisfactory. The location is great. My family lives about a mile away so I had a quick commute. Similarly, there are tons of Sushi restaurants, two museums, shopping and freeways. If my room wasn't so awful, I would have given a better review. I hope your stay is better.

Good restaurants. Pinkberry is close as well and open late. Japanese American Museum is across the street and down the block as well as the Geffen Contemporary which is part of the LA MOCA.

family vacation

The first room was nice and clean. The second room smells like cigarette, even though this is a non-smoking hotel. The clerk refused to change room until the manger and the engineer both agree the room smells like cigarette. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.

Miyako Great Location

Two minor problems @ Miyako that they fixed right away. Parking cost @ Miyako was $17.05/day, parking lot next door was $13.-/day. These cost need to be known ahead of time so guest(s) can budget. We requested ajoining rooms, but didn't get them. We ate @ local resturants, & didn't even try the hotel resturant.

Vacation before going back to real life

At Miyako Hotel my first thought was WOW I am in Los Angeles Little Tokyo for the first time. My thought about being in little Tokyo was this is small. Being from Hawaii my idea about Japan was put in shock. At night I was afraid to be out after dark because there was homeless people asking for money and there was not to much light to brighten things up. The Hotel itself was SO So. The thing that was great was the sauna and the message area. The one thing that will be stamped in my memories is the toilet, I have never used a beday, but it was great. My under side was given pure treatment. You did not here must about the resterant at all. I went to the tour section and she could not help me because I was not Japanies. Yes, I understand you are in Little Tokyo but at least they could have helped me instead of sending me to the Porter or front desk.

view with a room......

I was a little unhappy with the view from my hotel window and the room was a little dark. bringing up this little point to one of the hotel staff had me suddenly being upgraded and put in one of their nicest rooms! The location and (kindness) of every member of this hotel staff make staying here a joy......! I will return here on my next Los Angeles visit in May.

Perfect for the price!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Miyako. The staff really made my stay worth it. Every staff member I interacted with was incredibly polite and helpful. The room and facilities were minimal but totally sufficient. I stayed in the standard room, their lowest priced room, and it was still good sized with a big closet and all the standard accomodations. The room service was shockingly fast, (15 min!) good food, and reasonably priced. The hotel is in Little Tokyo, on the outskirts of downtown. It is conveniently located if you only need to be in downtown LA, but there is not much around there for tourists aside from Little Tokyo shopping and some art galleries.

ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS EXPERIENCE!!

The hotel was absolutely wonderful. An extreme value for the money. What you get is high-end hotel accomodations for a budget hotel price. The rooms were very nicely appointed and the hotel staff was the friendliest that I have ever encountered. The valet parking was very, very helpful and takes away completely having to worry about the safety of your car. A very, very nice amenity. There was a 19.00 a day charge for the valet parking but the public garage was 17.00 and anyone who knows LA knows that this is an absolute bargain for the convenience, safety, and piece of mind. Just drive to the door, step out and they take it from there. I would not hesitate to stay there again and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-end hotel experience at a budget hotel price. You won't be disappointed with this one!

Dining tip: In Hotel

There's a great Korean barbecue place across the street as well as several other nice Japanese places. The fashion district with marvelous stores is walking distance and there's a nice inlaid shopping area next door to the hotel.
