Elegant and Charming Classic Hotel
Ken Oct 14, 2009
Gorgeous elegant classic hotel but without the "tired feeling". The lobby, bar, hallway, restaurant and bar were all very ... elegant. While I was there, film crews were filming scenes for the TV show Castle. The setting seemed perfect. The rooms were elegant but a little bit outdated with small TVs in cabinets. I chose this hotel instead of a "preferred" hotel for a recent convention that I attended and was glad I made the choice. It was nicer and also significantly less expensive.

By all means park your car across the street on the surface parking lot kitty corner from the hotel on Olive st. We stayed a week and saved a lot of money. Best to go in and out once a day. The crew is a fun bunch of guys who also can give directions on the way out the lot.

Outstanding Service and Comfort
Goodnews Sep 24, 2009
Our trip was for a "Bible Crusade" in downtown LA and was 1/2 mile from hotel and the courtesy limo took us over and picked ... us up twice a day with no wait. We had many meal choices in the local area. The only thing we missed was no place to eat in hotel at 5pm. Everything opens at 6PM. We wanted a refrigerator for the room and they brought one up quickly and a light out that was repair immediately as well. Staff was great to us and we would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in LA.We travel a lot and this was a pleasant stay.

Parking Issues
Mooch Sep 10, 2009
Hotel lobby was amazing and top notch, so was our bedroom which had an amazing view of downtown. I would've given this hotel ... five stars but I had one issue that upset me during my stay. The hotel staff will not notify you about the parking situation because they are hoping you'll use the valet service which costs $40 a day. We assumed that the valet was included in the hotel price, but later found out by the additional charge on our bill. The concierge finally told us about the cheap parking a block away at checkout. Other than the parking issue it was a fine hotel.

I told the front desk to make sure the room we were staying at was quiet but at 3am the people next to us were so loud coming ... down the hall and extremely loud next to us...I swear it sounded like there was 10 of them in the room. I couldn't go back to sleep right after that.

This is a grand hotel which can be enjoyed in many different ways depending on budget. Simply walking the lobby and halls is ... great. Bar is superb. There is a closed courtyard for smoking that is secure and on ground level a short distance from the lounge. The spectacular gift boutique features hi-grade cigars by the way.

Lovely!
CC Aug 31, 2009
We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a beautiful hotel with an interesting part in the history of Hollywood. The staff ... was very nice and helpful as we didn't really know our way around. The (indoor) pool is awesome with a Turkish bath feel to it, but fairly small and not meant for children playing around really (tiling around the pool gets really slippery). Our room was OK, but not necessarily living up to the aesthetic of the lobby (it felt a bit dated, but very clean). All in all it was a great stay- would definitely go back or recommend to a friend!

Great downtown location. Large room, although it was sparse on furniture. We moved a round side table from the side of the ... room so that we both had bedside tables. It's an old hotel but still maintained well. Valet parking was expensive($40)but with free in-and-out, and very prompt retrieval service, it was still a good deal. (Especially considering the great rate we got with Orbitz.) Room service breakfast was served at the time requested, and was very good. We booked two rooms and both couples were very happy with the stay.

The overall experience was nice. After a long/noisy night at a concert nearby we were hungry. Tried to order room service ... at 12:00 am off the "Late Night" room service menu. The operator informed us that "Room Service closed at 11:00 PM". I offered a friendly suggestion of removing the Late Night Room Service Menu from the hotel information book to receive "is their anything else you need" from the other end of the phone. Hmmm!!

Nice Cheap Hotel
Animemaniac Jul 5, 2009
The Biltmore Hotel was a much nicer Hotel that I thought it would be. The staff was very friendly and had no problems with ... anything. I stayed with a friend to attend a convention. Only thing I had a problem was the location. Not much to do around the hotel, have to walk a bit to get to anything nice. The price was about half the cost of any other Hotel around the convention center. I would stay again and recommend this spot for anyone else that wants a nice cheap Hotel.

Horrible. PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!
Frequent Traveler Jun 29, 2009
PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE! First and foremost parking is $40 a night, even if you are staying at the hotel, and it took 45 ... minutes for the valet to pull my car out front. I made a reservation for this hotel because it had a very good price (of $100 a night). I was suppose to stay Friday night and Saturday, however there was a change to my business meetings and I had to come in on Thursday. The rate for Thursday, however changed, and I was charged $220. When I asked to talk to a manager about this price jump they told me that I would receive parking for free as a gift. Figuring I had no other choice, I regretfully accepted. Their mood was very different upon arrival because I was still charged $40 for parking and when I told them I was suppose to receive it for free the manager laughed in my face (literally, which was one of the rudest experiences of my life). Secondly, I had a late meeting Friday night and came home around 12:30, and wanted to order from their "24 hour" room service. But sometimes when they are slow, they decide to let their staff go early and close down their room service without notice. I hadn't eaten since lunch and asked what I could do, which I got a response of "There's a Taco Bell and a Subway about a mile away." I then asked if I could pre-order breakfast to my room so I could just go to bed and have it there when I wake, and she told me that "was against hotel policy." I then called down the front desk and asked if I could use the hotel car to take me to a late night deli to get a bite to eat and was told that again "was against hotel policy" and was told again that there is a 24 hour Subway about a mile from the hotel!!! They literally wanted me to walk alone in a strange downtown at 1 am to get food! And they call this a 4 star hotel?!!?!?!?! PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!

when I was at the hotel we used the pool once. really cmfortable beds but we didn't recieve the club room we booked online. ... when we tried to upgrade they told us to wait a day so we did and when we tried again they told us they couldn't get us one. extremely upset about that because we paid extra a night to get a nicer room. tried to order room service one night because it said it was open from 10pm-6am, we called down there and they said it was closed when it shouldn't have been. was a nice hotel but overall was just ok, staff was kind of rude and didn't get ideally what we wanted.
