Best ever!

I loved the hotel and will stay there again. I walked the surrounding neighorhoods and met green parrots in nearby trees, found the great locally owned restaurant - Norm's, got a great hair cut at Edan Edan just across the street. It is an efficient, clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Great value and superb location for this business traveler

Boutique = Small but Nice

The room itself was actually quite nice, although I was grateful I spent the extra money for the 'King Superior' after seeing the size of the standard room! Kudos to the website photographer for making the rooms look a lot bigger than they really are. The hotel itself appeared to have been fairly recently remodeled and while the curb appeal is almost nonexistent, the interior was a different story. It was also fairly quiet (except for a couple of isolated incidents with the upstairs neighbors stomping around on the ceiling). I was pleasantly surprised by the number of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The front desk 'staff' (one college-age person) tried to be helpful, but sometimes had limited knowledge of the surrounding area. We were in town for the Rose Bowl game and didn't get much advice regarding transportation to and from the game and other attractions we planned to visit, although a computer was available in the lobby for our use 24x7 so we managed. The only real complaint I had about the hotel was in regards to the supplies provided. While the room was spotlessly clean, it was set up as if only one person was staying there - One towel, one coffee packet, one glass... we had to go to the front desk several times to request additional items. (At one point we were told they were 'out' of coffee for the coffeemakers in the room, although we later saw some on the maid cart.) I'm not sure I understood the 'rationing' concept. A caution I have is with parking. The tiny parking lot behind the hotel didn't have enough parking places to accommodate all the guests. I checked in early enough to get a parking place (at additional cost); however, my brother, who checked in the next day, was told he would have to park on the street (fortunately the parking meters didn't charge on the weekend). Also, the driveway which runs beside the hotel to the parking lot in the rear is quite narrow - fortunately I wasn't driving a big SUV or I might have had to fold in the side mirrors . All in all, it was a pleasant experience, quite unique, and I would recommend it to all but the most claustrophobic.

Sky Hotel

This hotel was great in terms of staff and decor. What keeps me from giving it five stars is that there is not a restaurant on site.

Neither Sky nor Hotel

We were startled because this had nothing to do with sky or hotel. It is a two story aging motel, which has had some sprucing up, but the bones are still old. The price was high, compared to what one could get a few blocks farther north, in Westwood.

Awesome Getaway

We were very pleasantly surprised as to how nice the hotel was in person. The staff was friendly and helpful. What we loved most was being able to walk to Matteo's (which was fabulous) and the Waterside Bar (great). But the biggest surprise was all the awesome stores and great restaurants (Napa Valley Grill was awesome)within blocks of the hotel in Westwood. This is a definite repeat. Oh, plus, I loved the on-site parking.
