Although the price is sheap correspondingly in downtown, the room is old, dirty, and has bad smell. The dinner room is also unclean. I don't want to stay there again.

Dated Hotel but Clean
Parking lot is gated, and you cannot access without your room key. So, when I first arrived I parked on the street. The host immediately had me move my car before I got a ticket - she opened the gate. This an old hotel and outdated, but they keep it clean.

horrible, stinky, ghetto, gross!
I stayed there because I had to take a test in down-town LA early the next morning. From the pictures and the reviews the location seemed like it would fit my needs and was close to where I needed to be. It was NOT as it appeared in the pictures! It was in a horrible part of town, and the actual hotel did not look like the pictures. I felt very unsafe in the area, I worried also about my car. The first room I recieved was awful, the room was stuffy, there was no window, which means we would have had to sleep with the door open, and the air conditioning was broke. The second room we recieved after we requested to move was even worse. We asked for a refund because for the $72 we paid, we could have stayed somewhere much nicer, but of course were denied. HORRIBLE! DO NOT STAY HERE!

A dump with attitude
This place is one of the worsts hotels I've ever been in. During our check in I noticed how opinionated the hotel clerk was. Then to our surprise, the rooms that were supposed to be non-smoking smelled of rancid smoke and nicotine. We asked for a different room but the next room was just as bad. I found insects in the bath tub and on the curtains. The traffic noise was unbearable until we turned the heat/AC on. The breakfast room was dirty and unsanitary by any standards. The location of the hotel was also terrible, as it was far away from everything and in the middle of what I considered the slums of L.A.

Entertainment tip:
Long walk from hotel
There are buses that take you to Downtown L.A. from this hotel. Or you can walk for about 30 minutes to get there.

Price you Pay For
I was treated very well by the staff and each day my room was cleaned. However, the air and dust caused me to be stuffy each morning. It had a little refrigerator and air conditioning. The rooms are older and hotel was a bit run down. The Breakfast bar was bread and muffins, coffee and hot water and really not worth mentioning. I ate dinner next door at the Japanese restaurant and the food was outstanding. The hotel was across the street from the bus stop, which was convenient for traveling downtown. The owners arrange for you to travel back to the airport via family but I would recommend contacting the Shuttle van on your own for liability purposes. This was not a very well known hotel as taxi drivers never heard of it. The traffic noise outside was a bit distracting for sleeping.

Great value
The Knights Inn was a great value for the price. I loved the free parking and the fact that it was gated. It was not noisy at all and there was only one floor so there were no people above to stomp and disturb our sleep. It was in a convienet location, close to a lot of different things to do and see. The room was a little small but it really was not a problem because all we needed it for was to sleep.
