Just a business trip.
Location was horrible it was loud all day and night. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wouldn't recommend it but it worked for what we had to be there for.

Spartan Hotel
A quick background: I'm a Mid-20's single male professional who stayed here for only one night to get some stuff done in the DTLA area. I only mention this because honestly I think if you don't fit into the above category you should not stay here. The hotel is spartan at best. This literally is a minimum standard hotel in regards to everything. The room was extremely small (Basically a bed that takes up most of the room with a tiny sink and a small desk). The bathroom was tiny and the sink had no hot water at all (Shower did). The floor was uneven and the bathroom was freezing cold. One thing that really annoyed me was that the Bathroom light was on a timer. It is a little annoying to be in the shower and the lights turn off on you. This is a room for ONE person. Period. Anything more and you won't be able to breathe. The staff, while helpful when asked for service, gave off the impression that they did not want to be there. One of the elevators did not work. The location is great as it is smack down in the middle of DTLA. I was able to get a cab easily and later I walked to everywhere I needed to go. Food options in the area are there but a little limited since DTLA isn't exactly built for tourists. All in all, I only recommend this place if you are a single male (I find it hard to believe any woman would put up with this place) who only requires a bed and a hot shower. Literally. I did not enjoy my stay but I would stay here again because I am simple and can manage. I plan to stay at this hotel again when I return for future business simply because its cheap and all I really need. Again, stay here if you are a male, mid or late 20's, going alone, not picky about ANYTHING ,and not for long. Considering most of my friends are in this group, I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Short walk from hotel
If you coming to DTLA for some short term business then you can walk everywhere like I did. The only time I did not walk was at 2am when I wanted to get some food and not many places were open thus forcing me to cab it there but even then it was still affordable. Plus LA was experiencing record cold temperatures.

Keep Your Expectations Low
Never mind the small, practically windowless room (the next building over seems about 5 feet away). What was unpleasant was the stained, bleached, scorched carpet, the ripped blanket, the computer-screen sized television set, the fee for internet use, and the general and utter charmlessness of the place. Even the print of maple leaves on the wall was stained and scrubbed. Cheap but best to keep your expectations low.

Great location, not internet friendly
This hotel was in the middle of downtown, so the location was great. However, the internet comes at a cost and the connection itself is shaky. Nice cafe next door & valet parking.

No distractions - Bare bones
This hotel was bare bones as far as hotels come, but that was exactly what I needed. I didn't want distractions with internet and TV. I wanted a quiet room, close to Disney Hall where I could eat, work and sleep. That's what it was. I was happy to have a fridge and microwave so I could buy fresh produce at the Grand Central Market, or heat up left overs. The staff is extremely friendly and the cleaning crew was great! It's an old building that is in desperate need of renovation, however, the cleaning staff took great pride in making it the best that they could.

Wow, what an experience (Not a Good one)
This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The reviews and the star rating for this hotel were WAY, WAY offbase. This is at best a 1 or 2 star, old run-down hotel, that looks like it was converted from a halfway house. Everything about the experience was terrible. They had to change my room because the keys wouldn't work, the floor was damp like there was a leak, and the neighborhood was a little sketch. If my wife was with me, this would have been a major problem. I would advise them to shut down the hotel and sell the property. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Very old hotel, night staff are helpful
If you like a hotel close to the LA convention center and have ran out of other choices, you could settle for this one. The hotel is obviously very old and it smells it too. I had difficulty sleeping at night since I was not sure how clean my bedsheets were or if they were clean at all. The night staff at the desk are helpful and friendly (Mike and another guy) but the lady in the morning is grouchy and unhappy. She even told me to look for another hotel if I am not happy that I could not use the business center to print from my memory card. Really ancient! The hotel is close to a subway station and was one of the official convention hotels so there was a shuttle. Mike was very honest to tell me they were only charging [...] 3 nights and not 4 since I only stayed 3, though I paid 4 nights. There is also a nice breakfast restaurant next door. Probably wont stay there again if I have another choice but certainly grateful that the night staff are friendly.

the Civic Center subway station is a short distance from the hotel which makes it easy to go to downtown LA to grab a bite or do a bit of shopping at Macy's or buy necessities at Walgreens.

pretty shabby room
staff was nice and very helpful, but the hotel itself is dismal. It is located on Skid Row, far from downtown. The room felt like a place that would get rented by the hour.
