Beautiful views
Overall we really like staying at the Angeleno: the rooms are comfortable and the views are terrific. Unfortunately this stay we were in a room that was too close to the elevator and it was a bit noisy.

Good location
Easy access to freeway. Not that far from hollywood, santa monica, b hills, about 20 min. Freeway under construction. Noisy during the night. Valet parking only, but was complimentary. Maybe had something to do with surrounding construction. No much to do around. Close gas pump. Heated pool, not really!! Looked nice, but the water was cold. Wanted to use it at night, but the water temperature did not help. Gym small. Did not use it.

Stay here if you don't want to sleep
After a month of travelling throughout the US this is by far the WORST experience I had. Firstly the free valet (Omar) was so rude. We had 9 bags between the two of us and he would not let us unload in from of the hotel we had to park across the road - no bellhop and the valet who was the only one there not only didn't open the door for us but swore at us in Spanish for asking to stop in from of the hotel - it was 12am but this is just disgusting. Nor did the guy at reception offer to help. This kind of behaviour is the reason why people stay in trusted hotel chains. Not sure what it was like on the top floor but we were checked into the the 3rd and I had read reviews about the noise - I asked for something higher but "Apparently" there were absolutely no rooms available. Slept 1 hour because of the noise from the highways demanded a new room was given floor 6 - again "apparently" no other rooms available - and the guy at the desk said this was the best room in the hotel. Absolutely no difference in noise. Chose this place because Brentwood was not available. I wish I stayed at an airport hotel. Now stuck here for another 2 nights. I am disgusted - I warn everyone DO NOT STAY HERE!

Noisy room, On the highway
Everything was good, but the room was too noisy to have a good night sleep, and I am not a light sleeper. Our room was right next to the highway and the noise was annoying and non-stop all the way through the night. Add to that an outdated very old air conditioner making the noise of a propeller train every time it turns on.

Hotel was amazing ....construction not so much
We absolutely loved our hotel. The lobby was beautiful and smelled fantastic. The wine reception every night from 5:30 till 6:30 was exceptional . Enjoying a glass of wine by the outside fire every night was delightful. The West restaurant had some of the most amazing food I have ever had .....the only downside to our stay was the construction . The noise Inside and outside of the hotel was at times unbearable. The construction on the 16th floor caused us to have to move our room in the middle of the stay, the construction on the 405 made it a huge headache to even get to the hotel.

Great location by transportation
Our stay was good. There is a lot of vehicle noise and some of it was due to ramp construction at this location. Just keep the room heat/air conditioner blower on constant and the noise is not so noticeable. The bed is extremely comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful with any questions. Would stay here again.

Affordable at a Great location
Everything went smooth at this hotel from the check-in, the room itself, the stay and check out. We were in LA for a long weekend and planned to see all the sites and this hotel was centrally located and provided easy access to all. Unfortunately we did not get the change to use the pool or make it up to the restaruant but this hotel met our expectations. The bedding was remarkable but the room is starting to show a little wear in tear (door handles falling off).

Great stay with great view
First time to stay in the LA area and this hotel was easily located right off the 405 at Sunset Blvd. If you're doing anything involving UCLA or Loyola Marymount this location is really convenient. Hopefully it will get a bit easier to access when construction is done on the Sunset entrance and exits off of 405. Hotel staff was friendly and responsive. I didn't have to wait at all for them to retrieve my car (mandatory valet) each time we left the hotel. Valet service is free for one car per room. If you bring two cars be prepared to pay a steep $25 per night charge. One day we forgot to take the Privacy sign off of our door and I called late afternoon to see if they could still clean the room. They had housekeeping knocking on our door within 5 minutes. The restaurant located at the top of the hotel on 17 has a great view with very friendly staff. The food was okay but not great, but the convenience and view make it a must do for morning breakfast. Overall we really enjoyed it and would definitely stay there again.

Don't expect to find good places to eat right near the hotel. Be willing to take a drive either south to Wilshire Blvd or 15 minutes south to Marina Del Rey where there are great restaurants. I would not recommend eating in Bel Air where the parking was horrific and the prices steep.

Seen better from Joie de Vivre hotels
We stayed at the Hotel Angeleno over the long holiday weekend for a wedding. It was a pretty good location for accessing different areas of North/West LA and the neighborhood is fine. Construction on the 405 is a pain right now; use Sepulveda and Church for better access. While fixtures are modern, simple and tasteful, this is an older hotel that has been remodelled. It does not live up to the Joie de Vivre brand in terms of amenities available - but I may have been spoiled by Hotel Zaza in Dallas. View from restaurant is nice. Great "home" base, but don't expect to be wowed.
