A Place To Sleep

This is a great place if you are looking to "sleep" somewhere. The hotel is clean enough. There are no amenities - not even an ice maker on the premise or a phone in the room. The café featured in on the website was not what we expected. We were hoping for a traditional pancake and egg breakfast - it is not. Parking was free and easy. Location was an easy drive to most destinations. Not a place I would want to stay had the children been with us.

Never Again!

This hotel is not walking distance from Hollywood Blvd...you have to take a cab or your car and then pay to park close to the main attractions in Hollywood. This hotel is historic alright! No elevator...we had to lug our luggage two flights of stairs. The rooms are old and the window coverings kept falling off the window. The street noise is unbelievable. The bathrooms have a tiny sink with no outlet available there or even close to it. This was a dive and will never stay again! Pay the extra $10 to $20 to really get a 3 star hotel!

Historic == Sketchy

When we first walked into the room, we immediately noticed a guest who would spend the whole stay with us: A dead spider smooshed against the wall. The rooms are not air-conditioned, and it smelled of mold and mildew (the windows were not left open by the staff). We had to ask the staff to clean the room for us; maid service is on a request-only basis. Shampoo and conditioner bottles provided had clearly been used before. A chair in the room had a plastic cover that was torn part-way off. The "Three Star" rating is a joke; it's one and a half at best. On the bright side: The in-room fridge was convenient, the shower water-pressure was good, and the location made it easy to get out of the hotel and on to our destinations. If you're used to staying in hostels, expect a similar experience; don't let the name "hotel" or the "three stars" fool you.

You get what you pay for

Hollywood is expensive; this hotel is well located, but definitely not top of the line. Electrical outlets did not work; room temp. could not be controlled. Did have very nice staff however, and we felt secure as women in the hotel and the parking lot.

Great Location

Can't beat the location, price and free parking. The rooms are clean, we felt safe, but is a typical old building. Do not stay here if you are looking for continental breakfast, hair dryers, room service or even elevators. Staff is nice and helpful. I would stay here again!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

We found a Denny's about 2.0 miles away for breakfast, and you can find anything you want on Sunset Blvd, which is also less than 2.0 miles from the hotel. I recommend renting a car if you stay here (free parking) then your options are unlimited. If you do not have a car, you might not be too happy, not much within walking distance.

Explore Los Angeles

Pros: Prime location to freeways under $70 a night large room large closet that was useless FREE PARKING mini frig Cons: All the beds are super worn out. We switched 2 rooms. Jack hammer at the construction next door starts at 7AM everyday. Shower head had very low pressure. Had to use the coffee pot to dump water on myself to speed up the process!! carpet is gross. No tissue, had to use toilet paper. ironing board had stains Stuff to bring if you plan on booking this hotel. Bed slippers shower head ear plugs tissue paper For the money I think it was ok but I would never stay at a super low end hotel again. My back hurts and it just ruins your vacation. Spend a little more money if you want a batter Los Angeles experience!

Ehhhhhh not so great

This should by no means be rated as a 3 1/2 star hotel - I've stayed in much nicer 2 star hotels than this place. My room was tiny and looked not nearly as nice and roomy as the room on the photo tour of the website. Bed was squeaky, bathroom, towels and blankets/sheets were stained and ripped. Indoor/outdoor carpet in the room and a bit smelly. Only needed a place to sleep for a few hours, but I know never to pick this place again. On the plus side (and the only plus side), I had a view of the Hollywood sign. I should also say that the front desk was friendly and accommodating and offered to carry my suitcase up 3 flights of stairs to my room since there is no elevator.
