historic and fun

My husband loves old ships and this one offers all sorts of great tours. The room was much larger than I expected it to be and the restaurants were fantastic. Would highly recommend!

Queen Mary Oct '13

Promised plenty, delivered very little on all fronts. Our room leaked from the ceiling and had dated and time-weary decor. Bathroom was a poor affair, tarnished taps and neither modern nor authentic featured. Location is poor and you are charged a 'resort fee' which includes a tour despite being able to freely walk around the ship. Cafe and bar expensive and not all that nice. A new keyside attraction (some sort of fright-spectacular playing on the Mary's haunted status) seems to occur every 3 days and adds noise and cheapens the whole experience further. In short, high expectations, very poor return. Don't bother staying there, two or three hours walking around would be plenty.

Try it - you'll like it...

The Queen Mary is 1.5 times the size of the Titanic. It is a majestic classic ship and you wonder how something so big and beautiful could have ever been built in a less technological age. But there it is and staying in one of the rooms gives you a feeling for that time. The woodwork is beautiful. There are tours (recommend taking one). The view of Long beach is wonderful and the rooms are comfortable even if cruise ship sized. Pay a few extra dollars for an exterior (window) room. Not sure how much more a suite costs, but it may well be worth the inquiry. Food is ok. You can run quarter mile laps on the Sun Deck or on a path along the shore. In sum, you can't rate this hotel on just amenities. It is touching a bit of history and the experience that matters most.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

free buses from the QM take you Long Beach if you want to eat on shore. The dining options on the ship are limited but decent quality.

Mini vaca

I had paid extra for a king bed for my husband and I. When we went to check in they told my they had some pluming problems in a few rooms and all they had was a room with two twins and it was " an upgrade" from the room I would have gotten. We also had are 8 month old son with us so they said they would bring a crib up for him to sleep in which was a pack n play that was dirty. Are sheets were stained to be honest we were completely disappointed.

Wonderful Getaway!

My senses were saturated with nostalgia and history! The price was way below the other hotels in the Long Beach area and way above in personality. Be sure to go to the sun deck and watch the fishing boats and sailboats going by. Accessible to restaurants, aquarium, LA arena and everything! Wonderful!!!

Go for the ambiance

Generally would recommend for the ambiance, than, value, location and amenities. Walls are ply-wood thin and can clearly hear next room(s).

The Queen treats you like a queen

I boarded the Queen Mary and was royally welcomed and immediately felt relaxation set in. The room was very charming with many original fixtures intertwined with modern ammenities such as a flat screen TV and wifi. The bathroom was interesting with older faucets for the tub and shower. High tea was served in true English fashion. Having been to tea over the years at other tea rooms, I can assure you that this will not disappoint. Touring the Princess Diana exhibit really rounded out my stay.

Make sure to make reservations for dinner if you want to dine onboard. I saw several people attempt to walk up and were sadly turned away.

Wifes birthday

The ship was very unique. A lot of history and we had a good time. The staff was very nice. A good place to stay for a short period of time as the location is a bit far from the Long beach night life. We will go back again.

Night at the Museum

Fun place to stay. Hotel itself is an attraction. Free bus to downtown Long Beach makes it feel accessible even if it is modestly off the beaten track. Crew was exceptionally nice and helpful.
