A Real Treat On The Grande Old Lady!

My wife and I were booked for a cruise out of Long Beach and needed to overnight. We found this gem right next door to the cruise terminal and paid a very reasonable and low price for the room. We received a complementary upgrade to a room with a porthole and extra bed and it was really neat to see how passengers of old used to travel.

Room

The first night I was there it was horrible due to a room I had below the dance hall. There was a wedding and I was able to hear everything and I couldn't rest until midnight when it was over. I had a marathon the next morning so I was really upset of the noise. I complained and was moved the next day but it was too late.

Overnight stay

This nostalgic hotel had a wonderful tour of the ship. We requested our upgraded stateroom be changed in the early evening due to thin walls and the young group next door was loud, inebriated, and cussed often. Our room was changed to a much smaller unit, but we were given a minimal credit on our bill. The ship itself was wonderful to visit, but the accommodations were mediocre at best.

Historic Queen Mary

If you love to learn the story behind historic buildings, spend a few days on the Queen Mary! I was fascinated by the detailed facts that were abundant on the Queen Mary. The food, service and entertainment aboard the Queen Mary were wonderful. If I owned the ship, I would be working hard to keep the integrity of the design and time period, but I would definitely refurbish the state rooms by polishing, refinishing the beautiful wood, replacing the carpet. This could all be done without destroying the look and feel of the ship when it was put into service in 1936. Overall, my stay on the ship was a vacation full of interesting people and history.

Quite unique experiences but poor service!

It was a good experience to spend a night in a such a large ship full of history especially for my daughter. You can't learn that from any book. Anyway I quite disappointed that the hotel could not even provide hot water or free coffee stand at the lobby and I could not get a phone connection to the room service , the line kept getting busy signal and the front desk was not helpful at all. I think it would be fair to at least give us a free parking for hotel guest since we pay a lot for the room already.

Great staycation!

As a Long Beach native the Queen Mary is a part of our day to day. I had never stayed at the hotel, but decided to splurge on a one day staycation. The staff was great, the rooms are impeccable, and the location is spectacular. As soon as I walked in to the room, I felt transported to a different era, I loved that this was turning into an experience. We went to the Observation Bar for drinks and appetizer and it was just delightful.

nice night on the Queen, but

we have stayed on the Queen Mary a number of times before. as always, our room was nice, with a comfortable bed. we are used to there being more room to room noise than in most hotels. however, it struck us as wrong that we were not informed until we checked in (and had nowhere else to go) (prepaid through Orb) that they were hosting a Halloween haunted area right outside the ship which was very noisy and ran until 1 a.m. we were told it would be noisy and we could spend more money to upgrade our room but it would still be noisy. it wasn't terrible and we got to sleep, but it was noisy. i think Orb owes it to us to tell us there is a special circumstance that can seriously interfere with our stay.
