Hyatt Regency Long Beach

Nice Hotel, rooms are spacious and comfortable. I liked the hand that greeted me when I walked in with a golden apple. The only thing I did not like about booking through O**itz is that I was told at the Hyatt that I would not get Hyatt points since I booked through O**itz instead of directly with the hotel..I'm still spending the money and should receive credit for staying at the hotel.....

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you walk up a block to Pine and Ocean and want to travel around downtown to the attractions...take the A or D Passport bus...it's free to ride around downtown.....vs taking a taxi

The hotel offers a discount for the aquarium, but it is only good after 2pm. But that is still more than plenty time to see everything it has to offer.

Romance @ The Hyatt

My girlfriend and I actually live in Long Beach just down the street but we decided we needed a night away for some romance where we didn't have to travel far at all so clearly we had many hotels to choose from in the downtown Long Beach area. With meticulous thought we narrowed it down to the Hyatt. Our primary needs were an exceptional view from a high story (we ended up getting a 10th floor room with a city skyline view), a pool, and a great lobby bar as both of us are drinkers. The Hyatt had it all and then some. The location is what really shines its luster as its built among a landscaped lagoon adjacent to the heart of LB where everything happens. The view at night is something you can easily stare at for hours. The restaurant was excellent as well where we ate delicious New York steaks. On top of the food, our server was one of the friendliest and attentive we've come across in a long time. With all that, my girlfriend and I had a great night to remember. Our only major complains were about the room. It was clean but the A/C wasn't working properly, the beds aren't the most comfortable and they haven't updated their TVs to flat screens yet.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

If you're a drinker like us, you have to check out Shannon's @ Pine and Broadway. A good sized dive bar with the 21-50 crowd and about 10 flat screens for game days (if you like L.A. sports teams). The place gets crowded Thurs-Sat but worth it.

Parking

Parking is not free, don't be surprised when you get a $100 bill at the end of your stay, surprised me that I had to pay for parking at @20/day.

Great harbor experience!

Went to this hotel when out of towner's came into the LB, and we made the most of the location. I loved the little lounge/bar area with the flatscreens and the service was great. The room's might have been a little on the small side for a hotel chain this large and for the great location, but it was manageable. Great view from our room overlooking the harbor and even to the Queen Mary! Great location in which most types of entertainment is literally walking distance away.

There are all types and forms of entertainment around the area. Possibly almost endless. Make sure to get down to Mai Tai for a relaxing paradise experience.

Good Overall Stay

Everything was Great as it was for My Birthday and Pride...Only Thing is the Parking Situation as Confusion Over the Inclusion of 1 Parking Spot...Otherwise, No Issues as it is Beautiful With an Amazing View. This Confusion Won't Prevent Me from Returning...

Great Location, Comfortable Stay

This was a short weekend trip, and I've stayed in most of the area hotels. The Hyatt is the best. It is a great location for Long Beach visits, walking distance to the restaurants around Shoreline Village, and not far from downtown LBC. The check-in staff was incredibly friendly for a hotel, allowing early access to the hotel. I tried the Tides restaurant for breakfast, it lookd like it would be the "average breakfast fare" but in fact everything was really well done, and when they saw a few new people, they made a new batch of french toast at the buffet which was very responsive. The room itself is very comfortable, a nice size, and great views. Even the "city side" room I had was overlooking a beautiful pond right outside the hotel. Bathroom was clean, water pressure good, and had a lot of space on the sink for spreading out toiletries. Downsides are the parking rates and the fact you have to pay extra for Internet (through T-Mobile), which this day and age should be included. I could also hear nosies through adjoining rooms, but that is true for me almost anywhere, so I think I am just extra sensitive to room noise. Finally, there is a coffeeshop (perk), but it is only open until 11:30 am (yes, AM), and that made absolutely no sense to me.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Alamitos beach is really close to the hotel, has a long beach, and is not all too popular. It was very accessible from the hotel.
