BEST WESTERN Golden Sails Hotel

good points, hot breakfast was fantastic, restaurant on sight was very reasonable, room had microwave and fridge, laundry facility and hot tub we used quite a bit. They support our military hands down, even tho lots of partying was going on we could not hear it in our room. each room has its own little balcony but not necessarily a view. down side- motel is very old and in a questionable part of town unless you continue south on PCH. Room had giant wet spot on floor under air conditioning unit so we were allowed to move next door, Shower only, no tub and first room shower was falling apart; because we can get a better room, location and hotel for same price will probably not stay again. It should be rated a 2 star hotel definitely.

This was the fourth hotel we stayed at during my vacation, and for a beach city hotel, it was great at a great price! I had no noise problems, room was spacious and clean. Beds were confy. When in Long Beach again, I will definately keep this hotel in my list to stay in!

Better than I expected, actually impressed with room size, comfort. Free full breakfast was great, many options, service too. Great value.

want the beach, but we only say a harbor, with the roof in the way, traffic was not a problem , no ice, real nice breakfast, in restaurant . buffet style , no micro wave or refrig but over all it was fine.

We enjoyed our two night stay in late March 2013. Great motel staff. Excellent attentive service during the free buffet breakfast.

We stayed at the Golden Sails for two nights mid-week in late March. Although this is not a top-of-the-line luxury facility, it was adequate for our needs. The staff was very friendly and totally accommodating. The free breakfast buffet was well prepared, and service was friendly and attentive. In addition to the hotel restaurant, which we did not have time to try, there's some excellent eat-in and take-out food available at nearby small restaurants: Enriques, K-Pasta, and a sandwich shop all within easy walking distance, directly across PCH. (Go to the traffic light at the corner of PCH and Loynes before attempting to cross the busy highway.) The hotel has good access and bus service to east Long Beach/Belmont Shore, CSULB, and the VA Medical Center Hospital.We recommend it as a reasonably-priced, convenient place to stay, and we'll stay there ourselves when we again need lodging in Long Beach.

Nice hotel, good fullbreakfast, good position for sightseeing

Overall, the hotel was adequate. It looked as if it were a relic from the 1980's, although it was not dirty or unkempt. It reminded me of those places that were on Route 66 after Route 66 was no longer the way to go west. Breakfast was pretty good, served in an attached restaurant. Eggs, homemade waffles, potatoes & pancakes (as I recall), as well as oatmeal were available. Being right on Pacific Coast Hwy, getting to other locations was fairly straightforward. The front-desk people were very helpful.

This is the second stay in just over two weeks and again, for an older Hotel, the staff, room and extras were very pleasing. Not the Ritz but not the Ritz price either.

I got this Room for some visiting friends and after revue found that the overall value was quite good. It is not fancy and it is not new. It is clean, well staffed and a great location.
