Beachfront balcony & Location Only Good Points

this is a really old hotel that has had minimal updates. Building is concrete block and furnishings cheap beach motif. If it weren't for the balcony literally hanging over the ocean (oceanfront rooms only), I would have left. Room was clean but carpet was stained and nasty. All metal (sliding glass door, shower curtain rod, dresser pulls) were rusted from the ocean salt. Location was great and staff were nice. Restaurant and bar next door nice with great views. Do not even consider this one unless you get ocean front. All other rooms look on to the alley.

Cafe Zoolu was the best place we ate. Food was fabulous and huge portions. Don't miss the Calamari and the swordfish 3 ways. Sea bass great too. We tried all the recommended restaurants ( Watermarc, Nick's) and this was SO MUCH better!

location, location, location

I only stayed here one night as I was passing through Laguna Beach. I was very happy with my choice. I actually booked a garden room, but decided to upgrade to an ocean view room once I got there (rm 504). DO IT! it's so worth it! The view is amazing and if you enjoy sleeping to the sound of ocean, the upgrade is worth every penny. The hotel is also in excellent location. It's walking distance to everything. The hotel even has a list of places that will give you a 10% discount when you show them the room key. Just a heads up, the hotel charges $20 for valet parking. Street parking is available, but limited to 3 hours by the meters every day of the week. Here's a quick breakdown of the bad and good.... bad: bathroom needs an update, light on the balcony didn't work, there was no trashcan in the room, parking is not free, pool was small and there were nowhere to laydown. good: oceanview is amazing, location, bed is comfortable, beach chairs/towels provided by the hotel, 10% discount provided by hotel for local businesses, staff are friendly and helpful.

Great Location

The Pacific Edge is a great location for those who want to stay on the beach and be shuttle or walking distance to town. It's an older hotel and the age shows in the bathroom particularly, but it wasn't dirty. It was a decent value for the location.

great location for the price

I have a cousin who lives in Laguna Beach, and he lives only blocks away from this hotel, so it worked out perfect! we walked on the beach ALOT! it's so easy to walk to anywhere, or you can take the Wave Trolley for free from June til August! There's a grocery store(Ralph's) right across the street from the hotel, and I had a kitchenette, so it was great! It's a family and dog friendly hotel. everyone was very nice and helpful.i only had to walk 20 feet or so to get to the beach. there are plenty of places close to dine at. Great location! I'll be staying here again, next time!!

Amazing location

I stayed in Laguna with two of my friends. The room was a little smaller than I expected and the hotel itself seemed somewhat outdated, but aside from that, it was perfect. The location couldn't be better in my opinion. We were right on the south coast highway, allowing us to hop right on the beach or take a walk through the town. For the price we paid I ws extremely happy with the stay.

Avoid Pacific Edge

Pacific Edge's pictures on line do it more justice than it deserves. We rented to two bedroom and kitchen unit. They provide zero ammenities. We had to ask for extra towels, toilet paper, cups, creamers for coffee, etc. The lighting in the bathroom was bad. When we checked in asked if they had a DVD player and said "yes" but in fact the DVD players are "disengaged" so that people will rent movies through their service provider. All in all, with exception to it's location in downtown Laguna, not worth it's price.

excellent location

The location of the hotel was perfect, right in the middle of the town. I booked a beach front suite which had a literally breath taking view. Our balcony was right above the splashing waves. Don't consider that review for other rooms but for beach front suites...because i think the regular rooms really suck. The hotel has this really "beachy" vibe sort of surfist hotel however the hotel itself is really old. Both pools were under the shade and kind of dirty. Our room was right by a rusted, molded ice machine. The buildings were old, the shower was really weird..we couldn't figure it out for 15mins but other than that it had everything we needed it. Bottom line..great location...old building but the view was spectacular. Ok for romantic getaway.

nice, overpriced for quality of room .

We used it for our mother's 80th surprise birthday retreat. I was mislead by the gal who checked us in in that she stated the $20. parking fee was only a one-time fee when it fact, it's a daily fee. The location was awesome and the care-taking staff were wonderful!
