BEST WESTERN PLUS Inn by the Sea

Met family there. Had a great time in LaJolla! Everything is nearby including beach and great restaurants.

With the exception of the staff on duty at check-in, this is a nice hotel. Check-in desk staff quite curt and terse. No greeting, no smiles, no welcome. Spoke only for bare communication needs: "Checking in? Sign here. There's a $12 parking charge. The room is down the hall." No one else was checking in, but it appeared they were incensed our arrival was a disruption and an inconvenience to them. Obvious some desk staff (not all) need refresher on customer service.

the only complaint is that during an unseasonably warm winter, we couldn't cool the room. when we returned from dinner it was 84 in the room. We had to sleep with the sliding glass door open which meant we were woken up in the middle of the night by drunks outside and in the morning by screaming kids in the room next door. not great for our anniversary trip!

Our room was facing the Pacific Ocean. The view, even though small was beautiful! Walking in LaJolla was an adventure...the seals, water and shops and restaurants super!!!

I saw the pictures and read about the amenities before arriving so I knew what to expect. Hotel is in the center of town and very convenient walk to beach and shops. Staff was helpful in pointing out restaurants that were moderately priced for families with kids. Continental b-fast included sausage and eggs besides the ubiquitous packaged danishes and coffee. Rooms do not come with refrigerators but they will deliver one to your room for free.

The location of the Hotel is great, close to everything and within a block of the Ocean. The room was ok, nothing fancy, and it really had no Amenities. There was no fridge, the climate control didn't work well and it was hard to cool the room off. There were no movies available by TV as they were changing providers or something. The staff forgot to replenish the towels twice. Parking is either in front, where there is only about 9 to 10 spaces(very tight), in an alley where delivery trucks are constantly going through, or in a tiny basement garage that is also very hard to get in and out of.

This hotel is located in the beautiful area of La Jolla and if your on the higher floors, you have a great view in any direction with a nice small balcony to enjoy it on. Very clean, nice and good service. My only thing was the mattress, could have just been my room but it was worn out and uncomfortable to sleep on. Either way, I would still recommend this hotel.

I booked both of my hotel from Best Western, but this hotel was alot better. It was not noisy, the room was better, etc.

The location of this hotel is excellent however the write up is misleading. All that was remodeled in this hotel was the lobby. The bathroom in our room was less than clean and the water pressure was slightly over a drizzle. Also apparently when booking through [...]they automatically put you in the very first room right off the lobby so that you hear every voice and squeaky door in the building. Can you say WD40? The staff is less than enthusiastic but the beds are very comfortable. OH, and you can park on the street until 10:00AM but the staff won't tell you that, they'd rather charge you $12.00 per night for parking. That's a big rip.
