Not the Typical LaQuinta

One wing of this hotel is built into a 1940's era lima bean silo. The other wing is typical La Quinta. I stayed in the silo building and really enjoyed it. One note: there are very busy train tracks just next to the silo building. My room overlooked the tracks and I have to say I got a kick out of it. Nearly all the trains are of the passenger variety and pass in just 3-5 seconds but they do it with horns blaring since there is a level crossing just at the hotel. Trains pass every ten minutes or so during the morning and afternoon. Either the trains don't run in the middle of the night or I slept through them, not sure which. The room itself, the breakfast, the bathroom were all typical La Quinta which means "just fine but nothing special".

Summit 2012

The room was very different! We loved it! Because of how early our conference started it would have been nice for breakfast a little earlier. I would like to say that it was great that we blew a lightbulb before we left the room & it was changed when we returned without us saying a word. When we went to checkout I asked if there was a way for us to print our boarding passes. I was told that I would have to wait for the 'other' computer, but I wouldn't be able to check my email. I got my laptop & waited & waited. When I asked how much longer I was THEN told it would be over 20 more minutes. I feel that could have been stated to begin with. As a courtosy to customers maybe supply a printer in the lobby! Thank you for your time!!

Great for kids!

It is located right by train tracks and I thought it might be a huge nuisance but it turned out to be really great for my 3 and 5 yr old girls. They loved watching the trains zoom by. They are not too loud and they never kept me up or woke me up once during our 3 night stay

Very friendly staff!!!

As other reviews stated, it is next to train tracks. However, I only noticed them when I was already awake. I thought the trains and the history of this silo to hotel made it a unique and interesting place to stay-even a small picture museum in the breakfast area to make it educational! Pretty cool! I cannot say enough about the hotel staff. So friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the individual that kept the contenantal breakfast (a good one, by the way,)

Fun Place to Stay

The buildings include a 1949 granary built to store lima beans (really). Other buildings belonging to the hotel and restored buildings across the street constitute an "Old Town". My room was quiet (second floor of the granary) even though close to the freeway and the train tracks because it was poured concrete.

Close to fun places like Laguna Beach, Newport Beach and Fashion Island but summer traffic can be wicked. In summer be sure to check out the Laguna Beach Art Festival, the best of its kind in southern CA.

Historical site makes this place special.

This hotel was perfectly located for us. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast had lots of variety. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were able to release all of our stress each nite by spending luxury time in the jacuzzi. BTW the train that goes by adds the audio effects to this fascinating section of Old Town Irvine.

Don't book this hotel if you value a good night's sleep

The location of this hotel is absolutely horrible; no more than 20 feet from a relatively set of train tracks. I stayed on the 2nd floor in a room adjacent to the tracks (I asked for a room on the other side when ; as told about the tracks during checkin, but the hotel staff told me those were all taken - no wonder). Each night I was woken up at least a couple times by the sound of passing trains; for anyone wondering, I'm a sound sleeper so you can be sure this is not a minor issue.
