"The good, the bad, and the really ugly"

We went to Universal Studios in 2/2011. Went stayed at this hotel because of the price and loction. Very small hotel (looks like the apartments from the Karate Kid movie in 1984). Very bad neighborhood, everything is written in Korean and the signs to the freeway are very hard to find. This neighborhood is so bad that we would not leave our belongings in our room, thinking we were going to be robbed. Now I have to tell you we are not rich be any means, but if I were you I would spend the extra $20 a night to stay in a better location.

However we did not go out to any night clubs, but Vine street had a really popular night club 4 miles from the hotel!

The room was dirty and smelled. The air conditioner rattled loudly and the staff would not give me a few minutes after the 11:00 checkout time to gather my things so I was rushed out. I will not stay there again.

quiet convenience!

very nice place. make reservations early if you need more than one bed though! this is on vine street and is convenient to Hollywood, WeHo, and many other places of interest. helpful staff, quiet courtyard and pool, walking distance to convenience stores, laundromat, some restaurants.busses and taxi service right outside. rooms have fridge/microwave/coffeemakers(YAY!) reasonable for area.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

look for the "Public Parking" signs when going to attractions, they are cheaper than other places. also look for special, i.e., parking @ Kodak theater is only $2 for first 4 hours if ticket validated in shops in the concourse. (i bought coffee in a coffee shop on first level and they validated ticket).

One night stay in Hollywood

We were there for a soccer game and went in a club in Hollywood. We just needed a place to sleep. Therefore, it was ok. But it really smelled strong of smoke, even though it was not allowed to smoke in the room. But we knew, that it wouldn't be great, because it was a motel and not a 5-star hotel. So, we didn't care.

Mixed bag

Hotel room was very cold and heating inadequate. Insufficient blankets. We could not close windows all the way. Hotel is very old and shows much wear and tear. It is in a poor area with homeless people in doorways and living in cars around the adjacent streets. It was very loud, both on the nearby streets and also in the hotel rooms where it seemed to allow parties. One night we had to call the front desk at 2:30 a.m. to ask them to intervene due to the very loud voices in the next room. Also smoking was allowed in most rooms, we think, so our room did smell somewhat. The continental breakfast consisted of donuts mainly and coffee. The pool looked nice but we did not use it.

REALLY BAD !!!!!!

This hotel is way off it's own description of it's self to get you to stay with them-That false advertisement is an understatement. The rooms are so small they cram everything in there so that you can hardly move. Parking is terrible! It is so tight and hard to maneuver that I had to park on the street next to people who live in their cars. make sure you remove all valuables!!!! If you must stay here consider yourself desperate!!!!!!!!

All the basics, good location and price

The room was very clean, with no smells, and it had everything I needed. The shower was exceptionally good, with excellent hot water pressure. The only disappointment was the breakfast: just coffee & tea, English muffins and donuts. Some fruit, juice, or dry cereal/milk would be nice.

Great locaiton if going to clubs, only 1 mile away

The hotel is old. Parking is safe. MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR ROOMS WHICH DO NOT SMELL LIKE SMOKE. This is NOT a 4 or 5 star hotel so dont expect anything fancy. microwave and fridge in the rooom.

The Weak Link in Our Day

The Econo Lodge Hollywood was very well situated for our visit to the Dr. Phil Show at Paramount Studios. Location was the number one reason I picked the Econo L.H. for our stay. The minute I walked through the entry door, I was disappointed and strongly wished this had not been my choice! The lobby (size, furniture, atmosphere, odor, etc)gave me a hint of what was to follow. My first complaint was the customer service that began with the initial conversation and continued with every other interaction we experienced. (It was obvious that this woman does not enjoy her job.) As we opened the door to our room the odor was very strong and undesirable. It is disappointing when one is hosting guests and hoping for a pleasant experience only to be repeatedly apologizing. Arriving back at our motel after dinner, it was again disappointing to see the pool locked (I believe it was before 9:00 pm, but not positive of that hour.) The complimentary breakfast was also a disappointment for at least two reasons - the time (7 a.m. is late considering many of their guests are there to attend the filming. Dr. Phil instructions are first come first served and so we and others were hoping to arrive there by 7ish and consequently a 6 a.m. starting time for the breakfast would make much more sense. The lobby was full of people waiting for their bagel (very limited menu) while customer service people stood behind the desk waiting for 7am to THEN set out the food. The only drink in sight was coffee. Juice had to be discovered on your own inside the refrig. Only one cigarette-burned, small sofa was available for sitting while eating. A few steps away was the poolside where tables and chairs were visible only as that was still under lock and key. Sad sight and experience!! The price seems high for what we experienced!

Larchmont Village is a wonderful and delightful area for strolling to discover your eating pleasure. We chose Lepetit Greek - Mediterranean Cuisine and were more than pleased with our choice for outside dining. Excellent food and service!
