Liberty Hotel

The hotel is right behind the Kodak Theatre, and you walk through a short tunnel to reach the Hollywood Blvd where you can see all the touristic attractions (Wax museum, Ripley's believe it or not, Guinness worlds records, Jimmy Kimmel live, street performers, etc). The mall at the end of the tunnel has some great restaurants and provides a good view of the Hollywood sign. The rooms are plain and standard, but the bed sleeps well. The staff is nice. The hotel doesn't provide anything special like a gym or so, but there is a nice complementary breakfast in the morning and wireless internet is free too. Based on other reviews, I expected a dirty and somewhat noisy place, but I did not encounter any of that during my stay! I recommend this hotel for anyone that plans on spending most of their time in the city.

Booked a king sized bed upon arival was not informed that they don't have king sized beds , got to our room found two twins. Went to front desk where I was told that there were only two other patrons booked in the whole hotel but that they couldn't switch us to a single bed.

I have never complained about an Orbitz hotel or experience before and I'm an Orbitz VIP member. This hotel stated they were a three star but they barely were a two. The front staff looked off the street as one, [...] appeared as though he were in a fight and had a black eye. They were nice and courteous but looked very street. This made me nervous about staying, in fact if I had not pre-paid I would not have stayed. I'm going back to L.A. next week and I'm re-thinking my third party pre-booking method as I write this. This is the third time I've regretted pre-paying through the internet and I may not after this.The room had black mold in the shower, tiles missing in the kitchenette and broken tiles on the floors as well as squeaky floors and cracked walls and plaster chunks missing from the walls in the bathroom. I took pictures.Additionally, a family of three booked on another website for considerably less for a larger room and the same days. I would say how much and through whom but for some odd reason you don't want to know.They also advertised on the website that they had free high speed wireless. Its true they did, but the signal was so weak in the room I was able to get on at first for about five minutes but never again the whole trip.I'm not at all happy with my hotel choice and I believe you should reconsider the star choice. I know the hotels on this street (Orchid) to be former apartments with a reputation of drugs and crime prior to the building of the large Renaissance Hotel next door on Hollywood and Highland. The city forced the owners to evict and clean up the street which they did but being former slum lords obviously is still in their blood.I tried the "second chance" method but in this case it simply did not work out for me.

The Liberty Hotel was OK. Staff was nice and the room was clean. Very little amenties, no wireless in the room. Overall it was OK, but it is a great location. I would stay again if I was by myself on business, but not for pleasure or with my family.

Liberty Hotel in Hollywood was in a great location. It was less than a block from the Hollywood and Highland Center. The shopping there was great and lots of places to chose to eat. You could walk to everything, the Hollywood Wax Museum, Ripleys Museum, Guiness Museum, The Kodak Theater and the Chinese Theater. The hotel was clean. It was nothing fancy, but everything you needed. I would recomend this hotel.

The Liberty Hotel is really a no frills bargain basement motel. My room was at the back entrance of the hotel which basically exposed it to a lot of noise from nearby traffic and the slaming of the back entrance gate. The rear entrance gate did not automatically lock shut and would often be open until the early morning hours. Needless to say there was not much security for a downtown location. My room needed some basic renovation (dripping pipe under toilet tank, bathroom needed painting, one of the blinds had a missing piece). In addition the front desk could not place a wake-up call on my phone so I was given a tiny battery operated clock. On a positive note, this musty old place is located in the immediate vicinity of the Hollywood Highland Mall and the Kodiak Theater, and within a short distance of Grummans Chinese Theater, the Hollywooed Wax Museum and other attractions.
