Fun hotel, but loud.
I stayed at this hotel on a business trip. I would not recommend it for business travel because it was very loud at night with receptions and events being hosted there. However, it would be a fun hotel to stay at for vacation. They have outdoor movie night at the pool and the bar by the pool seems to turn things into a night club atmosphere during the warm "summer" nights. Also, the air conditioner was so loud that I had to turn it off at night to be able to sleep - and I'm the type of person that can sleep through just about anything. Bottom line: If you're going to Hollywood for fun and don't plan to sleep much anyways, this hotel is perfect for you. If you're traveling for business or with kids, stay away!

Great Location
I had a great experience at The Roosevelt. It was very close to the venue I had to be at each day as well as close to restaurants and attractions. The beds and pillows are amazing! Overall, nice experience.

Location, Location, Location
Very nice stay. The pool area and bar are great and one of the best people watching spots you'll find. The Garden/Pool rooms are under renovation and the job they are doing is top class. Internet is spotty (at best) in those rooms, but that may just be because they are not finished with all the work (as of 4/1/2011).

HRH - pretty darn cool
This is old Hollywood - home to the original Academy Awards, but still hip as ever. I loved my room - great city view, spacious, and very comfortable. Great hotel staff other than one cocktail server by the pool - she was a nightmare. But her replacement was a total pro and on top of things. You really can't beat this location.

A David Lynch Hotel
Hotel is very cool but very weird. Reminded us of a David Lynch movie set. Dark and moody. We did get lost a few times in the hotel. Loved our stay. We stayed in a Cabana Room that overlooks the pool. We had a balcony view of the pool and Tropicana Bar. Only complaint would be that the room was very dark (not enough lighting) and we had to track down ice (no ice machine on our floor even though the hotel directory said their was ice on each floor). We ended up going to the bar to get ice and were told we have to call front desk and have ice delivered to our room.

I've stayed at the Roosevelt over six times in the past few months, and find it a great place to stay for business. The fittness center is small, clean, well equipped and almost always empty. If you work out in the morning, often there is a pot of fresh coffee outside the fittness center at the ready. I always stay in the cabana rooms (either garden or pool view)which are decent sized and sound-proofed much better than other hotels in the same price/sytle category. If you stay in the cabana rooms on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening during good weather and are looking for a quiet getaway, the poolside rooms aren't for you as the Tropicana Bar is often booked for events which can last well into the early hours. The garden view rooms, however, are always quiet as they face residential blocks of Hollywood. The staff at the Roosevelt is always friendly and accomodating, even if they do not recognize you as a return guest. The valets and door staff, on the other hand, are some of the best! They are incredibly personable and professional.

Not very happy
Web site was misleding on size of room. I needed to have space for meetings and had to upgrade at an additional $125per night to do so. There always seemed to be a party going on in the hallways and I had to listen to a flute player practice for quite some time one evening. Staff that led you away from activites in the lobby were not rude, but a bit forcefull. Made me feel like it was my fault the lobby was closed. Bathroom layout is poor and the old tub is very slippery. The glass partition is the only thing to try and catch yourself. I could understand the high parking price if your not a guest. Maintenace had to drill out the door in order to get me in my room. Then they had to come back and replace lockset. I was offered another room, but it was the small king that I had just upgraded from. I would have thought that after sitting in the hallway waiting for maintenance to let me in and then being distrubed again while they re-installed a new lockset that some form of compensation would have been offered...none was.
