Great Location and value for a two star hotel

The staff is extremely friendly and really cater to the guests. I was most impressed by the staff and lovely complimentary breakfast. It has everything you need to start your day and coffee and hot water is available all day. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but could use an update. Other reviewers have commented on the thin walls and this is very true! Be prepared for thin walls and pray for a quiet neighbor. However, for the cost of the hotel and the phenomenal location the Orchid Suites cannot be beat. You can count on a clean room, friendly service, and an easy walk to Hollywood Blvd. I would recommend.

Perfect Stay in Hollywood

All of the staff from the front desk to the maid service to the continental breakfast attendant were friendly and helpful. We felt genuinely welcomed each day. The amenities were quite nice- a full kitchen and dining set, TVs in the bedroom and the living room, comfortable bed and furniture. The roof top garden area was perfect for relaxing and for dining away from the pool area which is also nice, but noisy depending upon the number of children and teens in the pool. Many of the hotel guests were international- from Europe, Japan, and South America which made for a genuine friendliness vibe in the air. The underground parking was fairly priced at $11 a day. Locating a parking spot each evening would have been nearly impossible in this bustling area less than a block of Hollywood Blvd. We were there to attend a performance by my niece's band, Flavia and the Red, prior to the start of their first national tour! We also toured Griffith Park and the Observatory and toured the beautiful beach area in Long Beach where the Queen Mary ocean liner and the LB Aquarium are situated. My Mom loved our stay at the Hollywood Orchid Suites and is already looking forward to our next stay. Dining at the Grill and

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Immediately adjacent to the HO Suites is a short walking tunnel that takes you into an area of shops and nice restaurants. It includes a Cinema Complex, too. Step out onto Hollywood Blvd. and you are next to the TCL Chinese Theater and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Plenty of activities for couples and families within short walking distance- no need to hazard the LA freeways, at least for a portion of your visit.

Visiting Hollywood

This is great location for visiting Hollywood. It's right behind the Chinese Theater, the Walk of Fame and the place the HOHO buses depart. They were setting up for the premier of new Star Trek movie, and the flier's were at the front desk. The rooms are converted one bed room apartments, and ours had a second king size bed in the front room. We had a full alley-style kitchen, clean and with a few dishes, pans and utensils. They set up a continental breakfast around 7am. It's safe, they have to buzz you into the front desk area.

Can't Go Wrong with Orchid Suites

This place was awesome! The location was incredible and so was the price. The staff was very helpful. My room was an efficiencey and had a balcony. It was clean and up to date. It wasn't a luxury hotel, but it didn't cost like one either!

Good inexpensive choice

Great location, somewhat dated, low on amenities but a good deal overall. Located right behind the Kodak Theater, the Hollywood Orchid Suites is right in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. The only real complaint about the rooms is that the beds could use updating, the interiors are somewhat dated (they look like they were last decorated in the 60s) but each room does include a kitchenette. There's a pool that's kept very clean and a rooftop garden that's pretty minimal but good for sunbathing. There is a noise problem, as there seem to be deliveries to the Kodak Theater day and night and you're close enough to the loading dock to hear the trucks arrive and leave. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your hotel room I'd probably recommend another hotel, but if you use your room as a base and travel around to see all the sights and events in Hollywood and beyond it's quite a deal. The staff is very friendly and helpful, there's free parking under the building and a free continental breakfast every morning. If you understand and accept the limitations it's an excellent value.

I was barely there, but it was nice

I was a little surprised at how dated the hotel seemed (I assume it had been an apartment house built in the 50s or 60s), but was delighted at the spaciousness of the very clean rooms and the overall service -- and the breakfast. My room faced the street so it could get a little noisy late in the evening, but nothing that was enough to keep me awake. All in all, very reasonably priced, unmatchable location, and a very good experience.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

To get to Hollywood Blvd. and the Chinese Theatre, cut through the passageway to the second floor of the shopping center. It'll save you a good five minutes.

Excellent Value, Great Location

The Hollywood Orchid Suites is a great value if you're looking for an affordable place with an awesome location with lots of free valuable amenities. While it's an older property with a lousy bed and occasionally noisy at times, you really can't beat the value for the money. Huge plus is the free secure parking (most places charge $20 per day!). There's free wi-fi, free computer with printer if you don't have your own laptop, free breakfast and a helpful front desk staff. It's very safe in a great location -- right behind the Chinese Graubman theater, Walk of Fame, Kodak theater and Hollywood & Highland Center mall -- all a 1-minute walk away. It's central, between Santa Monica and downtown LA with easy access to 101 so it's the perfect home base. The rooms are suites since they're apartment conversions so there's tons of space! While we didn't use the full kitchen, it was nice to have and we really liked the spaciousness of our room, which included an enclosed patio. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. I highly recommend for the budget traveler who doesn't need anything fancy but wants a clean, spacious room without getting nickel and dimed for every little thing. It's definitely a hidden gem that I'm glad I found!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Bring a roll of quarters for the meters. You can save a ton by parking on the street instead of using the valet. One exception -- in downtown Santa Monica, the parking garages are actually free for two hours so go to the garage first before paying on the street or in a private lot or valeting.

Great value

Staff were very friendly, service-oriented, personable, and accomodating. Rooms were clean, breakfast more than adequate, the rate great and the location fantastic. The room is large, bed comfortable, the drapes blocked all the light, and the kitchenette great. Safe in the closet. Great location!!!
