Cheap, and does the job

I went here to get away from the family, because I was sick. It was safe and clean. My only complaint and it's minor is that the room was hot when I arrived because the air conditioner was off, probably to save money. Otherwise, I would definitely stay again.

Not bad for the price.

Located in close proximity to the event I attended, but much less costly than the sponsoring hotel. The room was clean and modern with good amenities, however no wash cloths (although they were provided when I requested them). Continental breakfast was minimal, no decaf coffee, apples only as fresh fruit, no pastries. Overall a good value for a business stay.

A nice place to stay!

We were attending a concert at the SavMart Center and this motel was very conveniently located, and seemed to be in a safe area. There was some excessive noise in the parking lot, coming from large semi-trucks, and trucks sounding like trash trucks, but we don't know if that is common. The room was a little small but very adequate for two adults and two children (10 yr olds). They even had a dvd player attached to the TV, and a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. I felt safe here, and the room was very clean - - my two most important criteria when traveling on a budget and with my kids. The staff were very helpful and friendly, check-in was fast, easy, and pleasant. Overall, I have been reserving lodging online for many years and have been disappointed more often than not, so I was very pleased and happy with this inn! I would definitely stay here again!

Decent and comfortable lodging

Check in was great and the staff was friendly. The room was compact and had everything needed for a short term traveler on the way to Yosemite National Park. My room was a non smoking room but someone smoked anyway. I did report to the hotel staff and they apologized. Continental breakfast was provided and it was decent and basic. The bed was quite comfortable and firm. Everything in the room was newer and updated. Good value for the money.

We had many problems with ...

We had many problems with the facility but the people working were very polite, friendly and tried hard. There was no light in the vanity (turns out a fuse was out), the hair dryer did not work (never did) and the lights by the bed did not work because they were not plugged in. We got in late, so just gave up and went to bed. The next morningn tried to call desk manager. Many rings but no answer. Figured out that microwave, fridge, hair dryer and vanity lights all did not work - so looked for a fuse. Found and reset but hair dryer still did not work. Called office and someone answered. I had to go to the office to get the hair dryer, they would not bring it to me. I went to the office, the manager could not find a hair dryer so gave me a key to another room to dry my hair. Unfortunately I messed up the room number and kept trying to get into someone else's room (not empty!). Finally got number correct and used empty room to dry hair. The next morning (Thursday) we got up to shower and found out that we did not have any towels. They had cleaned the room but not left any towels. Again, I had to go to the office to get the towels. Later the day, someone finally come over and move the beds and plugged in the lamps. Truthfully, this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in and it was also the scariest. There was a hole in the ceiling that was plugged with kleenex, the box springs looked like the came from a dump and all the rooms allowed smoking. One night I kept hearing a strange clinking and finally a breaking noise. The next morning I went outside and the room next to me had a broken beer bottle outside the room. We left my daughter's phone charger there. We called and house keeping found it and we asked that it be mailed backed to us. It never was. We took our daughter back to Fresno three weeks later and stayed at a much nicer hotel. I will never stay at this hotel again nor recommend it to anyone!

moldy oldie

the location of this hotel was the only good thing about it, its evident that repairs have been made to the room and an attepmt had been made to maintain it, but it missed the mark the room smelled moldy and not fresh, the staff was freindly, we did not used any of the other ammenities.

Clean, quiet and convenient

The Econolodge on Blackstone in northern Fresno is tidy, comfortable, and convenient to major highways. I like the bathroom being separate from the vanity area, the table with chairs, and lighting on both sides of the bed. Our room was far enough off the road that we weren't bothered by traffic. That could be a problem for some units closer in.

Gas prices are all over map. We' filled up at a station just north of the hotel, which was cheaper than any others we found.

Better than first view suggested

We arrrived at the motel in early evening and were dissapointed with the external appearance, but the room was clean and comfortable. We were very impressed as our stay continued. We found the staff friendly and the room was kept clean by the housekeeping staff who were also responsive to our reguest for more towels etc. We would definately stay there again and recommend it to others. As we grew to know the area we found that we were very conviently located for the purpose of our visit.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

A major shopping mall is within two miles. There were a good supply of resturants within a 3 mile radious.
