Cheap budget motel

The place was cheap so we decided to stay there. The room was dark, smelled off smoke, carpet and bedding not too clean. It's stay able for one night, but don't expect too much.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The AA bar and grill is a fun place. Nothing fancy, but a great place to have some steak, bear and jack with the local bikers.

Good 4th of July vacation

I really liked how this hotel was close to the waterfront to see the fireworks. The room did not smell fresh but wasnt too bad either.

$80 it was not.

Our room was priced at $80.00 with no extra taxes or fees. When we arrived the woman at the desk tried to charge us a $10.00 fee for each of our dogs, which she said she was willing to reduce to a flat rate for both dogs. How big if her! We still ended up paying $99.60. When I told her our room was priced at $80.00 online and showed her the print out of our reservation she said there was a 12% tax. So I guess she didn't understand the part that said no extra taxes or fees. But the money isn't the point. When I get a price guarantee I expect not to have to haggle over the price. As for our room; it was mediocre. The hotel is located in a poor area; there were several unsavory looking people loitering around on the street, and a few of the guests were no better. If fact the woman at the front desk was yelling at a pair of women who were fighting over a pair of kids and theatened to kick them out and call the police while we were bringing iur stuff up to our room. I asked the front desk woman if there were residents at the hotel. She said no, but I have my doubts; those people seemed right at home. The only good ammenity was breakfast. I was expecing a continental breakfast with muffins, fruit and coffee, but there was eggs and sausage, toast, hot and cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, plus coffee and tea. The coffee was horrible, and the food was on the order of hospital cafeteria quality, but it saved us having to go out for breakfast. Next time I'll skip this place. And I will be looking to get a refund of my $19.60.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The Samoa Dunes Recreation Area was really nice, if you enjoy the ocean. The saw mill? and power plant? on the drive out were a surreal touch too.

Unless you have to

Rooms are clean but very uncomfortable beds, parking is an issue, too many homeless and beggars around the area, make you uneasy. My credit card was over charged and I had to request a refund adjustment when we got home.

Decent motel, not the best neighborhood

A basic room. Very comfortable beds. Decent facilties. Nice enough staff. Neighborhood is not so great- quite a few homeless people around. Steets are a little ratty. a 6-7 block walk to nicer area. Not scary, just not all that nice. The $3 coupon for breakfast is at a nearby diner- you would be better off to walk a few blocks to E-F streets and eat in one of the nicer places there. I will probably try a different hotel next time, but I would stay there again if there were not other reasonable options.

A bit pricy for what you get

The Quality Inn looks nicer than it is. Room was noisy (first floor near stairs). No Air Conditioning. And a small TV. The breakfast is a $3 coupon at a local dinner 2 blocks away (not the convienience of a quick snack and coffee I was looking for). Room was clean bed was decent but pillows were little fluff balls and not high quality. Plenty of clean towels and the usual shampoo etc. Ok, but to much $$ for what you get.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Mazzotti's in old town is very good and the Lost Coast Brewery also is good. Both a long walk or short drive with ample parking.
