Don't believe the hype from other reviewers

Poor experience all round. One of the 2 elevators was taken "out of service" for a "major upgrade" (leaving 1 slow elevator covering 9 floors, UGLY!), the air-conditioning did not work (a call to maintenance said "it's heat only", despite our room being in the high 80s, and the hallway in the 60s... something's fishy). Our first room was not what we'd booked (small bed, and smelt of stale cigarette smoke). H/T to Cameron for sorting out that part, so at least we got the right bed - had we not, the wife and I would have been sleeping in separate areas of the room due to the oppressive heat in the 8th floor of the South Tower. Had to open the door to the outside, and deal with the noise of the highway to somewhat mitigate the heat, the rusty safety railing made me stay well away from looking out though! Needless to say, not what we wanted after a red-eye flight from Fiji and a full day's air travel the next day. Avoid if you value your sanity. Our previous stay at La Quinta was much better for around the same spend (oh, and got free breakfast there too, not here!)

5 star hotel (if it were half the price)!

i cant comment on a lot since i wasn't in the room long enough to even sit down. i should have gotten a hint when i couldn't find my room. i didn't know the elevator had a mind of its own and is a gamble if it actually goes to your floor and if it does go to your floor...the door may not open. when i turned on the a/c, it blew warm air. after i went to get some ice... i finally found a working ice machine on the 6th floor (i am on 2nd floor), i returned to a hot room. i come to learn that there is no a/c in the hotel! after about 45 min and $30/night more...i am in a nice cool hotel room, with free parking to boot! AVOID THIS PLACE!

My Rate of this Hotel

We stayed from Friday to Sunday they charge $ 8.00 in parking a day, at night when returning there is no parking. Called the supervisor she asked me what I wanted her to do about it. Very poor customer Services. Air Conditioning in hotel room didn't work. I will never stay here again.

This is an old hotel that ...

This is an old hotel that has been partially remodeled, but only as far as the front desk, lobby, club and restaurant areas. The room reeked of stale odors, smoke, and the heating/ac left much to be desired. I had to open the window in order to adjust the temperature as well as tolerate the odors. The bath only had a shower stall, and was positioned so close to the wall I had to squeeze to get in and out of the shower. I'd recommend the bar's dance floor, and the food was average in the restaurant - nothing else was worth nearly the money I spent for it. After I arrived at the hotel (and spent $20 on a cab to arrive), I was told about their courtesy van to/from LAX.

Great Room Service

The Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo, California, is a somewhat older hotel that does not have individual room air conditioning. Instead, it is centrally controlled throughout the hotel, as as a result, it became very warm in my room at night, when the hotel air was either off or turned down very low. Upon check-in, the room had not been cleaned, and the front desk and housekeeping had not communicated that it needed to be cleaned. Although I had requested an early check-in time of 2:00 p.m., I had to call housekeeping myself to request that my room be cleaned, and it was 2:15 p.m. (normal check-in is 3:00 p.m.) also, the housekeeping staff lost my husband's swim trunks, which were on the bed when we left for the day and not there when we returned. The next day, the Manager-On-duty, gave us a hard time about reimbursing the amount we paid to purchase new trunks so we could go into the pool again.

The room service and the Mariposas cafe (24-hrs.) located in the hotel was great! the prime rib was a tremendous deal at a reasonable price. The Mexican restaurant in the hotel was horrible and overpriced. The Double HH Bar was fun, with dancing and good drinks.

Rooms could be cleaner

Very convenient shuttle service to LAX. Parking was ok. When I went to plug in my computer behind night stand next to bed, there was an empty condom wrapper. At least it was empty. Maybe rooms could be checked better. Have stayed her before, didn't like the location of room. Probably will not stay again.

Not a clean hotel

Our room was not clean. The shower (hot and cold nobs were reversed) and toilet were so noisy. My brother got bitten by some insect in his bed.

Blah

We were given a tiny room on the 2nd floor over the street right next to the elevator that was so noisy we could never have slept, so we requested a different room. Both of us are handicapped, and the hotel staff knew this, but the new room was a huge hike to a separate part of the hotel then another huge hike from the elevator. There was no refrigerator for my meds, so we requested one. When it arrived it was so old and filthy we were disgusted. If I could have just left, I would have.
