beauiful getaway

We stay at L'Auberge 4-5 times a year, usually we have great room accomodates adn service, this time was not the best, next to delivery driveway, very noisy in the morning, be on the first floor the insulation from upstairs was poor, heard every footsteps from above. At little disappointed that our son brought a bottle of champange and a bottle of wine from L'Auberge. We wanted to sit out by the pool area and the bartender said she would have to charge us a corking fee. I could see it if we brought spirits from home, but that was not the case. Not the best experience this time. Randi Gibson

Del Mar Gem

L'Auberge has a great staff and excellent location. The rooms remind one of being in a chalet and not really a hotel. You do have to be careful about hidden costs and their movie system is lodge.net which is a great service but a little pricey.

Gorgeous hotel!

Beautiful hotel! Short walk to the beach and tons of restaurants. The room was amazing with a fireplace, huge shower, private balcony and many personal touches. Only downside is the outside bar/restaurant (Which has a firepit and waterfall) closes fairly early and the bar in the lobby gets pretty crowded. Staff was polite and very accommodating.

Nice, boutique hotel, a hike from SD

This is a nice property with a bit of a boutique feel to it. Rooms are smallish but nicely decorated and staff/service was pretty good. One word of warning though, although this is in the town of Del Mar, you are still a good 20 minute drive from downtown San Diego. In addition you have to cross a (busy) railway line and road to get to the beach. After staying at Surf and Sea in Laguna Beach and the Oceana in Santa Monica, it was hard not to feel a little let down by this hotel. If you a looking for a boutique-style property that is in the San Diego region but out of the way, this may be for you, but for us we would have preferred either a hotel right in town or something right on the beach.

San Diego zoo really has to be one of the best in the world and well worth a visit. Maritime museum in San Diego was also really good fun (and great value at the price).

Special Birthday Retreat

Lovely, upscale hotel. Nice ambience. Good service. Outdoor dining (ate brunch)overlooking pool which overlooks the ocean -- if the weather were balmy, you'd think you were in Hawaii. Once park, no need for car. Walk every where. Easy access to the beach & restaurants on the beach (although you do have to cross the RR tracks).
