Very satisfying experience
Just an overnight stop on our way down the Pacific coastline but were very impressed by the appearance of the hotel, amenities offered, and the friendly, helpful staff. We got lucky with the early Fall weather and watched a spectacular sunset from the balcony of our room. Quiet, super-clean rooms, good staff, great views, better-than-average continental breakfast. I really can't think of anything negative to say about the place.

Great view of the Pacific Ocean
This is the second time we stayed at this place. We like the location as it is quiet, far from noice of highway 101. Nice view of the ocean and the lighthouse. The first time we stayed there one of the towels looked dirty. We did not bother to complain. However, the second time we stayed both of the comforters on the bed were dirty so we opened up the bed and found hair on both of the beds so we asked for the linens to be changed. They changed the linens right away but the linens were not crisply ironed unlike the other places we've stayed in. It is a nice place to stay in, just be deligent in checking the bed linens before you sleep in it to make sure it is clean and that the towels you are using look clean.

Great Hotel
Great location right on the coast. It is worth the extra money to get a room with a balcony so that you can sit outside on your private balcony and watch the crashing waves on the plentiful large rocks. There is also a beautiful functioning lighthouse right next to the hotel.

Business Overnighter
Great staff. One young lady was a rookie and her trainer wasn't much older than her. But, he did not embarrass her if she made a mistake and the check in process was professional and kind....gives me hope for the country. Ok, so on to the hotel itself. It is built on the shoreline, in a quiet remote corner of south Crescent City. The room was clean and ready to go. Bed was located in separate bedroom with a view of the ocean and the sound of the crashing waves. The televisions in the room were old CRT types and the picture quality sucked. The cable system does have a guide channel, so you have no idea whats on, without checking every channel. I watched the BCS game (roll tide!!) in the room, but did have the option to watch it on a 42" flat screen in the lounge area with other guests. Considering I was there for an overnight stay while on a business trip, I was satisfied, comfortable and felt good and rested for my next day of work. If I ever end up in Crescent City again, I will defenitely stay at this hotel again.

Expensive but worth it.
We were on a two week vacation and tried to economize somewhat on hotels. However, we splurged for three nights at the Crescent City Hampton Inn, and it was worth it. The ocean was right off the balcony and made for a very restful, relaxing time after several busy days with family and a wedding in Salem, Oregon. Crescent City is close to excellent redwoods and has some unique history. Next time we will bring a bicycle as the town would have been excellent for riding. The city's history with the wild ocean includes the sinking of the sidewheeler Brother Jonathon with $1 Million in gold in 1865, and a devastating tsunami in 1964(!) after the big Alaskan earthquake. (The hotel appears to be sturdy!) The room was large, and the furniture comfortable. Wired internet access was excellent (although wireless was poor). If we can afford it we will happily stay there again.
